Silly oil filter question

Silly question: Is the oil filter the same between the VQ35DE ('04 G35 sedan) and the VQ37VHR ('11 G37s Sedan)?

This is great place to ask silly questions lol, its a (mostly) judgement free zone.

As an FYI there is no "VQ37DE" engine, the engine in the '11 G37s Sedan is the VQ37VHR.

To answer your question though, yes the '04 G35 sedan and the '11 G37s sedan use the same Oil filter

A few owners use the filter for the Titan V-8. Same threads and more volume.

out of curiosity, whats the benefit of doing this and do you have to put in more oil to account for the increased volume? Also any negatives like a decrease in oil pressure?...I was thinking about it as my wife's Honda uses a longer version of the one I use for my G (Same threads and diameter) and I have a bunch in the garage that I could use...it seems like it may just slow the saturation of the filter with contaminants with more surface area i.e it will be in better shape if I cant get to an oil change as fast as I'd like to

I have used the larger 4.5/5.6 liter V8 filters since our 07G35, they fit well w/ room under the splash pan and the OEM V6 filter is SO small

good to know, I just looked it up and the filter on the 5.6 litre engine is the same one that my wife's Honda uses and I was contemplating trying. I think I'll try it next oil change
