Deciding on OBDII tool

Was looking to get an OBDII Scan tool and was hoping for some guidance on which to get. Want to keep it under $100 and had my eye on three different ones: BlueDriver Bluetooth Professional OBDII, ScanTool 426101 OBDLink MX and PLX Devices Kiwi 3. Wanted to use this for my 09 G37X as well as the families Nissans, Hondas/Acura and GM cars.

https://smile.amazon.com/ScanTool-42...YVKJ4W1FVSPRS4

https://smile.amazon.com/PLX-Devices...XAPV0QD3BZAKJE

I know the BlueDriver is proprietary and must be used with their own software and is more geared toward trouble shooting and can suppose to be able to scan all the modules in the car like transmission and ABS.

The ScanTool MX and PLX Kiwi 3 can be used with 3rd party like Torque Pro, but not sure if capable of looking at codes aside from the engine like transmission, brakes etc.

Was also hoping to monitor items like engine temps, reset codes etc.

Lastly can one mess up the car with any of these? I would hate to damage my or my families autos. (I read some reviews on Amazon that some people had issues with the MX freaking out the car)

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Unfortunately, you get what you pay for. I use UpRev's Cipher system for all my Infiniti/Nissan vehicles and it works well without damaging anything. But it costs more than $100.

I looked at the Cipher system, but was not really interested in tuning just more along the lines of reading codes on the car system and monitoring some parameters every so often. I also wanted the ability to use it on other makes and models.

I have one of the older plx kiwi bt adapters. Works well with the several cars I tried with so far. Use it with torque.

Tried the cheaper amazon dongles but had various issues from not being able to pair, loss of connectivity, etc.

When I'm not tuning my car with Uprev then I use this and the Torque app to clear DTCs

I picked up the BAFX, it dropped for a few hours for $13.99 and I also got the Bluedriver. I picked them both up since the BAFX was so cheap and I already bought the Torque Pro. I was thinking about the KIWI 3, the price on that dropped to 39 for an hour but did not pull the plug due to all the negative reviews it's back up to 90 now.
