Need help!!! I am in Toronto area, Canada. . I have a 2009 g37 sport sedan 6mt and just had this happen. (rear timing gasket leak) I bought an aftermarket protection plan so all i have to pay is a $100 deductible. The work is being done this Monday by infiniti. Infiniti swears that the gaskets to go back in are paper. I have given them part numbers 13555-jk21a and 13555-jk21b and they say these gaskets are paper also and do not fit. If i put them in, then the aftermarket company said they will not warranty the product if it happens again. My question is whether the original gaskets and these uodated gaskets are both paper?? What should I do. Is there a different part number for these Gaskets inn Canada. Really need to hear from Canadians who had this done esp. to see what part they used. Thanks. They shouldn't just be replacing the gasket, they should be replacing the entire cover assembly with part # 13500-EY03B. There are no provisions in the factory service manual for replacing just the gasket.

 

They are replacing everything, they are ordering new parts in today. Do you think the parts ordered will include these metal gaskets??When someone posted pictures of the above mentioned parts 13555-jk21a and 13555-jk21b, the gaskets appeared to have a metal undercoat if that makes sense. Those gasket part numbers at the infiniti dealer I am dealing with have these part numbers in stock and they are all paper according to the service manager. Just dont know what to think. If metal ones were going in I might keep the car but if it is the same paper ones, I think I will sell it as I can see this problem happening again outside warranty. Thanks

 

Those gasket part numbers are for the g35. The most current assembly should have the revised gaskets

 

Can anyone confirm if the replacement gaskets are the same paper type or have been reinforced new design?

I'm just curious; not that I have an issue (yet).

 

So far NO ONE has proven the updated timing cover gasket is something OTHER than paper

If this were to happen to me and out of warranty , I would try the CZP gaskets.

 

 

So, not a gasket failure, rather a builder/rebuilder failure. Lok-tite will cure that.

 

No ECM codes but low oil pressure?

Uggh...looks like I need to install an oil pressure gauge.

 

I could've swore that Motorvate DIY had a video on how to test your oil pressure so you can anticipate whether or not this is creeping up on you.

 

I had no codes but had my oil pressure tested because I had a feeling the car wasn't running correctly. sure enough the oil pressure was low, not terribly so but it was below factory spec. plus I had low compression in cylinder 3. so instead of replacing the gally cover I just swapped in a motor from a 2015 z. got the motor for 1k$ with 19k miles with all accessories attached, free shipping, and installed for a total of 4k$ all said and done.

 

 

just look on ebay, there are plenty of motors that are way cheaper than 2500$. mine was also a complete motor with all accessories attached took 3 days from drop off to pick up to get the motor in and tuned. the company I got my motor from was Tae used auto parts, based in Florida. just search for a 2015 vq37vhr engine, there will be plenty available. I just searched and there is one that has 36k miles for around 1200$.
