Invoice for Gasket Repair
Thought I'd post this FYI.
My car went into limp mode and displayed a CEL without warning. I drove it to the dealership and got a diagnosis and an estimate in the $3200 - $3900 range. I did some research and contacted a friend who owns a local shop and he was game for the repair.
Here is a picture that he took of the damaged gasket:

Reading about how a 370Z blew the motor in spectacular fashion and the culprit was the oil galley gasket under the FRONT timing cover, not the rear. I've asked for clarification as it seems it's the same part. But if not...both could be potentially weak points, FYI.

EPS Tuning makes a replacement gasket set which I'm sure is designed to be more durable than OEM/OEM redesign but it says rear. So the OP on the 370z forum may have it backwards.

Mine just failed after a pretty extreme cold snap. Car is a 2008 and has 110,000 miles. Bought it used one year ago. Symptoms were check engine light and limp mode . Code for cam timing. Pulled the oil pan and found gasket parts. Decided to dive in head first. Got it torn down to the galley gaskets, and found a portion of the upper “t” shaped gasket missing. The portion missing was on the upper driver side of the engine. The screw on that very far end of the gasket and the one next to it were much looser then the rest of them. The bottom of the “t” gasket screw took little effort also. That part of the gasket was still intact, but discolored as if had been getting oil soaked from the loose screw.
I ended up also removing the entire rear chain case. The case was leaking oil from the case/ head area. The rear case is mostly a liquid sealant connection other than one O ring for coolant, and one O ring for the main oil pressure feed.

Former Infiniti certified technician here.
I believe there is actually an updated OEM rear timing cover to address this issue which ironically is SOMETIMES less expensive than the oil galley gun shaped gaskets and o-rings alone. It comes preinstalled with new oil galley cover plates and gaskets. This also saves some time not having to clean up the old cover and plate surface areas. I believe the cover was updated in 2011 year G's.

Also not sure if this is mentioned but it is usually advised to replace both intake phasers or at the very least whichever one throws the INT cam code for being out of time. The phasers are very susceptible to damage when they are not getting enough oil due to the inherent loss of pressure with this issue.
As always, be sure to inspect the chain, guides, and oil jets for any damage that may have incurred from the chain having too much slack.
