Anybody running GTM SC kit w/ Uprev?

I'm looking at buying a GTM supercharger kit from someone and doing the swap from his car to mine. My question for anybody who has one is how the uprev tune works? Like he has the cable and everything but will it only work on his car? I am unfamiliar with how Uprev works and if it is locked to only work on that specific vin number or if it will also work on my car without shelling out more money? We have the same exact 2008 g37 coupe except his is manual trans and mine is automatic. I'm wondering if I can just upload his tune and flash it to mine?

Unless he has the file for the tune you can't use his tune. He needs to remove the uprev license from his ecu and put it back on the cable and give it to you and then you will you upload the license from the cable to your ecu to unlock it. Probably would retune it yourself instead of using his.

Ok so if I dump his eCu rom onto my laptop can I edit his tune or see his settings so I can have something to start with? We have different ecu's so I can't flash his rom onto my computer. It has to match my Ecu number from what I gather. Basically I dumped his ecu rom file onto my laptop and put his ecu back to stock. That's far as I was able to do as we started to swap the parts and put his car back to stock but I want to be prepared once I get all the parts installed on the car. He called Gamma but they want to charge $350 for this flash

If you have the tuner version of uprev you should be able to open his rom file and edit whatever you want, with the standard cable you can't do anything with the file. And that's where my knowledge about this ends. I am not sure if you can edit his file to fit your ECU part number or how that works from there. You might just better off buying another base map.

Do you know how you can tell what version the Uprev cable is? I've emailed Uprev but they never respond and I call them and just get the voice mail.

If you have the cable plugged into your car and your laptop, open Osiris? It's the blue logo program, I don't have my laptop near me right now to check. Once you open it, click the second tab under there and it will show you info about your cable. It will say standard or tuner version there. Or even easier open Rom Editor and click one of the edit tiles, if it opens you have the tuner version, if it tells you can't access that then you have the standard cable. I think its $200 to upgrade to tuner if you don't have it. Better off just buying another base map.

Ok cool. Thanks for your help. Now I know what to look for at least. It has Osiris and cipher but I didn't pay attention to the other stuff.

Ok so I ended up paying Gamma Motorsports for a base tune for $350. He said he was giving me a deal and after I paid he said that it was a base map and it would have to be tuned. I figured it would at least be close and then I could fine tune it but it bogs like hell and is way off. So after dropping $350 I paid $275 more to Uprev to change my standard cable into a tuner version. Anybody out there that has a GTM Stage 1 supercharger kit that can tell me some settings so that I can get a little closer to a proper tune? I know I have to tune it but when it is this off it is hard to tune when it's not close.

you should find a tuner by you and have him tune your car to be safe.

If you aren't a good uprev tuner I would not tune a boosted VQ. They blow very easily from bad tunes. I would take it somewhere that is known for tuning boosted VQ's.
