Based on my own experiences, high heat is far less problematic than the effect of freezing temps.
For me it is the opposite because my car has to sit in a parking lot all day while I am at work so it can get pretty hot. In the winter I don't remember shift ***** bugging me so much probably because the whole car is an ice cube and luckily my garage is insulated so it never gets all that cold at home.

absolutely crap. it's what I ordered at first. it weighs nothing and makes driving actually miserable like you're going to torque off the shift lever. I threw mine in the garbage. the plastic even felt brittle.
Hybrid is amazing. yes it's $200+. It is not difficult to keep clean AT ALL. I bought mine used. it was scratched to hell. like DEEP scratches. 2 hours and some 800grit sandpaper finished with some turtlewax a few times and I can almost shave in it (and it's white)
It's worth every penny. never changes temps, the weight makes shifting a breeze and smooth/fast. looks great. Because the shift **** is the most finger banged item in the car, I highly suggest not being cheap with it and going for quality. this is it. you won't regret it.
as for height adjustments, it threads from opening in the bottom to the very top and comes with an added 10mm (guessing on height) plunger that acts as a bump stop. probably has 2+ inches of height adjustment top to bottom. I often change my height because it changes the feel of the car IMO.
you're welcome.
Thanks for the review! Lots of good info. Most "finger banged item in the car.." Haha!
You know I looked at some shift ***** like that. My only problem is they sit too low so I have to put a big spacer underneath and then give up a lot of the thread.
I have been doing some "high temp" testing with a quarter on top of the shifter the last few days and so far so good. Very scientific, I know. But this is making me lean more and more towards the Raceseng Sphereology shift ****. With the window tint and sunroof shade closed it is really not getting too hot.
At this point, you seem to be making fun of yourself. I can respect that.
Just buy it already. It certainly doesn't break the bank, and worse case you know for a fact that you could turn around and sell it for a negligible loss.
Haha! Patience Rochester. How many more pages did you spend trying to figure out your short shift kit? I think I do have it narrowed down to the Raceseng Sphereology. (Thanks for the recommendation) Obviously, there were some concerns with my set up due to past experiences with heat, the same issues you had with height, what to do with the factory shift pattern, and the idea of a weighted shift ****. I am having my body shop check out if they can remove the factory shift pattern cleanly so it won't be long now.
I spent countless comments and photos and sample swatches just trying to figure out my freaking shift boot.
You got nothing on me, man. Amateur. LOL
Ask Raceseng if they can core the **** 3/4" lower (less deep) than spec.
Yeah, so nothing to worry about. This is a rapid quick decision by your standards.
I think I am ok on height since the Sphereology has adjustable height and I can alter it a bit on my end too. It looks roughly the same height as the one I have now.
I may end up having them put the Raceseng name or "R" logo on top after all. After talking to my body shop they think the only way to remove the factory shift pattern and make it look right is to paint it. I think that trim piece is metal though. I am going to try to get more info from the guy who used "airplane stripper" to remove it.
I'm 99% that it's aluminum. And I'm no paint expert, but I believe it's just brushed aluminum and clear-coat, with a screen-printed shift pattern under the clear coat. Oh, and it's very, very thin, too. Doesn't take more than a thought to bend or twist it. I got a little too aggressive bending one of the retaining tabs on that ring, resulting in an insignificant deformation leading into the ring proper. I swear you'd be hard put to see it unless I pointed it out. But I see it. Point being... handle that ring with kid gloves.
But you replaced your boot, so you should remember what it was like handling that piece.

Me too. It's about as thick as an aluminum can.
I keep meaning to take it apart again and put on the new redline boot.
I thought it was aluminum too. Then again I thought the dash piece was aluminum, but when I tried to take out a scratch the brushed part came right off and it looks like plastic. Wierd.
I may have a solution to the shift pattern so I don't screw it up. Raceseng can do their "R" logo on top of the shift **** for no extra charge so I could just keep the factory trim the same. I think it will still look really nice. Any thoughts?

Yep. That's where I thought you were going with this problem of too many shift patterns.
But not the elongated logo, just their basic "R" swoosh. And if it tightens a little bit off-center, then so what.
