Hesitation and CEL
Hesitation and CEL
Figured id ask here before I take it back to the shop.
A couple months ago I had some pretty bad missfires (un-drivable) so I took it to the shop right around the corner from my house at first they thought it was the crank position sensor then said it was the crank position solenoid. After I got it back the car seemed ok though idle seemed a little less smooth then before.
Its been less then 500 miles since I have had that done and now I have a CEL again and a hesitation on acceleration. Any thoughts?

O2 sensors? I'm only suggesting this because I was running without them for an extended period of time...it was a noticeable lag whenever I hit the throttle, and when I finally got around to replacing them, the difference was night and day.
Any more details on your situation? How long is the delay? When does power pick up to match your throttle position? More details will help in diagnosing the situation.

Pulled the code when I was home last weekend.
P0197: Engine Oil Temperature Sensor Low.
Really surprised that oil temp sensor would put it in limp mode. Has anyone else has this issue? I also checked AutoZone and they apparently dont have that part.
I did find this.

The code P0197 means the oil temperature SIGNAL that is sent to the ECU is too low in voltage. Possible causes: bad temp sensor, unplugged, or broken wire.
Every engine with variable valve timing will go into a "fail safe mode" if the temperature is out of normal range. The ECU needs to know the oil temperature for proper actuation of the system.
By the way, our engine does not have a "crank position solenoid"
The oil temp sensor is right by the oil filter. Have a look in that area and see if any thing is unplugged, broken or anything unusual.

Thanks, that makes me feel good about the shop I took it to when I was having the issues.
I am out of town for work but will check that when I get back home next weekend. I have a feeling that something happened when the shop worked on my car as the issue started less then 200 miles after they "fixed" it.
