You'll get more answers over on the370z forum. Plenty of guys there that have gone from the VLSD to an aftermarket mechanical-type LSD. Quaife makes a drop-in replacement for the 7AT/VLSD cars. Wavetrac is considered to be slightly better but requires you locate a new differential pumpkin from an open differential car. Z1 Motorsports can provide a fully-built one ready to install.

For me it comes down to what you intend to do with the car and how long you're going to keep it. It'll be about $2K when all is said and done. Change out the bushings to aftermarket while you're at it.

Ok thanks! I was going to keep the original open diff but I plan on tracking the car. Roadcourse, not drag strip. I'll try to email Z1 and ask questions about what they recommend. I'll also look into the 370 forums.

MY G37 is setup for road course. I got a Wavetrac through Z1. I'd highly recommend using them. The diff was well built, it came with fluid and diff bushings, and they even give you an option for final drive ratio. Great experience with them on this product.

So since my 7at is open diff I can just install the wavetrac without having to replace the diff pumpkin?

Awesome thanks for your input. I will research more about the wavetrac and other options!

I believe you need an open diff out of a MANUAL. It's been a few months since I did all the research. Since I'm no longer considering doing it, I've pushed all the fine details out of my brain Obviously Z1 will know and they make it a habit of scouring e-bay and sniping manual open diffs out from underneath me. I gave up trying to find the right one for a reasonable price.
