To replace the spark plugs or not

Hey guys,
so I have an 08 G37 Sport, in which I changed the plugs at 50k and being that I'm at 107k, would it be necessary to change them out again? Considering so, my idle at times can be a little rough (thats really exaggerating - just might clean my TB regardless) but other then that there are no signs of needing replacement. I'm just looking at it from the perspective of preventative maintenance. With the amount of miles on my G, I've replaced just about everything regarding normal wear and tear, so the spark plugs are the last replacement I would have to do.

Thanks!

Mike

No way. These spark plugs are good for 100K miles unless there's a specific issue causing a problem with them. If it makes you feel better take them all out and have a look for anything abnormal. In absence of that, put them back in and keep your money in your pocket.

Changing plugs at 50k miles is a waste of money in my opinion

Ok cool, thanks! I only did mine at 50k due to purchasing my car with 46k already on it. So when I inspected them, they kind of looked like yours. Hence why I changed that at 50k!

I changed mine around 75k. The car wouldn't start and I found one of the plugs had a crack/missing porcelain.

I changed mine for the first time at about 107k miles. Didn't need to but preventative maintenance like you said

OMG!!!! I wonder if that broken-off piece of porcelain is bouncing around in your cylinder or if it got blown out into your cat!!! Either way, not good.

That's not how it works. The porcelain is on top, not inside the combustion chamber.

^I didn't see anything when I looked into the plug tube, but I vacuumed it out. It's been 10k miles since the replacement and no problems so far. Like BB said, it didn't get into the engine.

I've searched around but could never find an answer. Does anyone know why the schedule for the normal spark plug change is recommended at 105,000 while the IPL is recommending to replace them at 60,000?

To get suckers to pay more money for unnecessary maintenance and make them feel like their cars are special? It's the exact same engine. Same tune. different exhaust which doesn't affect spark plugs at all.
