I just returned from a 3 day trip and had the same problem. I was pushing the start button 2 or 3 times to get the car to start. I discounted the battery because, if it doesn't start the first time, I don't believe that it will fire off the next time. I've had the start switch problem on a Honda Accord and what I did was spray the switch with an aerosol used on electrical circuits/connectors. I did it over two years ago and haven't had one issue with the car since. I read it somewhere on the internet and it worked for me. FYI: just sprayed the switch and worked the plunger a few times. Started the car 5 times w/o a problem. I'll probably buy a new switch on Monday and install.

 

Update: I didn't buy a new switch, I just adjusted mine. Used a 14mm open end wrench, loosened the jam nut and screwed the threads on the switch in about a 1/2 turn and tightened the jam nut. No problems since.
