60K service for 2008 coupe
60K service for 2008 coupe
Ok I have searched but found little info on this. I have been enjoying my car for the last 1.5 months and I just broke 60K miles. I am planning to take it to 60K service but honestly I don't know what to expect.
What should be done for this maintenance?
Infiniti or Nissan dealer for this maintenance? There is a Nissan dealer close by but the closest infiniti dealer is 50 miles away.
Is it possible to order the parts online and take it to an independent mechanic to change them?
Also my brakes began to make some hssing noise(I already have the dreaded brake noise when I go backwards). How much are the brakes?

^ FYI - there is a current thread in the Sedan section discussing the 60k service. you'll find useful info there. and there are many other thread as well - possible in the Tech section. or check out your owner's manual.
and yes, buying your own parts/fluids and taking them to an independent mechanic is a great way to go!

Ok today I got a quote from a Nissan dealer from my area for premium 60K maintenance on my 2008 g37 S 5at.
Engine oil filter ----- 48$
Replace ATF fluid --- 200$
Replace Differential oil-- 135$
replace engine air filter-- 25$
replace engine coolant/flush--165$
Replace engine drive belts-- 185$
in cabin microfilter -- 89$
replace radiator cap --- 35
replace wiper blades --25$
total he is letting it go for 840$ including taxes !!!
I just realized that I forgot to add brake fluid (I am getting a warning I guess it needs to be topped off)
I realized that infiniti dealers are also givin similar proces.
Do you think I can do better?
I am thinking of buying everything from amazon and take it to an independent mechanic...

I can do that.
Since you mentioned I am curious should I Flush the ATF (which costs 300$) or drain and refill.
And btw I am trying to find the maintenance history of the vehicle do infiniti dealers supply it with a vin number? Although it recently hit 60K since it is 8 years old the previous owner may have flushed the coolant, changed the belts etc. On carfax there was 15-20 items but I can't find the carfax anymore and don't want to waste money for buying one(I should have saved it).

Stick to the drain & fill. Try to do 1x every 30-35k miles.
There is no mention of a 'flush' in any service manual for the 370 or G in regard to the transmission. Therefore, I would not listen to and be kind of pissed off if a dealership was trying to upsell an in-house service that's not recommended, required, or mentioned as best practice by Nissan co.

It's a 2008 car with 60K miles. Assuming they actually do the full tranny flush, I'd go for that over the drain/fill. For owners that keep up with maintenance, doing a drain/fill every 30K would be ok if it were done since the first 30K on the car.
Everyone realizes a 'flush' entails pressuring fluid through the transmission, cooling lines, pan? That crap is risky as heck with very sensitive parts you would find in a transmission...I honestly start looking at anyone (based on my mechanical knowledge of Nissans and Mercedes..maybe domestic cars/transmissions are different) like they got their auto mechanic training from a Jiffy Lube or something.
A fluid exchange (aka manual drain/fill process) is the only thing outlined in the service manual, no flush, no machine or anything outside of the Consult III to measure tranny fluid temps. If Nissan/Infiniti wanted people hooking up a pressurized closed loop to the transmission, they would have one of these machines in every dealership/service area....but they don't. That's the administration/ownership/service writers trying to sell a maintenance routine not outlined (and I doubt would be warrantied by corporate were there an issue) by Nissan.
A true, full exchange, would be doing the drain and fill three times. Just like what the manual outlines step by step. End result? 85%+ new fluid. If I was at 65-80k+ miles, I'd be doing a three time D&F procedure. Don't like infiniti/nissan dealer quotes? A great thorough DIY thread can be found on here.
Am I saying a flush will hurt your transmission, no...but if you have any ill effects
