2012 G37xS crack in engine timing belt cover
2012 G37xS crack in engine timing chain cover
Hey,
So I bought a 2012 G37xs couple months ago ... only issue was aluminium oxide on parts of the engine area.
Yesterday, I was cleaning the engine area and noticed a couple of cracks on the aluminium cover/casting for the timing chain.
Took it to the dealer they said it wont do anything .. at this point its only cosmetic. And they wont do anything in regards to this now ...
But I feel eventually as it ages the crack will get deeper and possibly expand into further regions.
Has anyone seen anything like this? Is there any way to deal with Infiniti dealer or Infiniti Canada?
FYI: The car still has Infiniti factory warranty as it only has 61000

Isn't a 2012 still under warranty? But bumper-to-bumper I think is 60K, and yours has 61K....If you bought the car from them recently, I would bug them to get it fixed. It can't get rusted like that, something is going on there. BTW, the G37 has a timing chain, not belt.
I called Infiniti Canada and they said the car still has warranty for another year and upto 100,000 kms. They also said the dealer should fix this issue if there's an actual defect or hairline crack.
We have two Infiniti Dealers here and went to both of them and one of them is like "I've seen worse, its not a crack, etc" and second one is like "it's a aluminium casting defect/imperfection" I wouldn't worry about it.
All they kept saying is if it was a crack you'll lose oil pressure but I feel eventually it'll be a full blown crack and they said they can't do anything.
