2012 g37x sedan exhaust
hey guys im stuck here im hoping someone can give me some clear cut answers.. ive been looking for a long time trying to find something that will work for the awd sedan but seems like that everything is only listed to fit the rwd model.. im thinking that these systems should fit both cars.. the only difference is 2 extra drive wheels up front the frame and engine and trans are all the same. any info would be great thanks

If you're looking for a full catback that works on an X you pretty much have 3 options. Stillen, Fast Intentions, & ARK Grip. I do not personally recommend the Stillen since it drones like crazy, trust me I sold mine after putting it on. Many folks tend to really like the Fast Intentions system.
Invidia makes a nice catback, but it doesn't work on the X without modifying one of the pipes - there's a thread about that here.
Top Speed Pro-1 makes a popular y-pipe back exhaust, it's not a full catback, but seems to be a good compromise. Also, Megan Racing (M2 performance) makes their OE-RS which is a y-pipe back exhaust system.
I went with a milder axle back (mufflers) from Tanabe, which I'm very happy with since the sound is just right and construction is unbelievable. I think that pretty much covers the majority of exhaust options for our AWD X's.

Great reply^^^
When looking at the TopSpeed products be SURE to only consider ones w/ the beveled/rolled exhaust tips, they have a straight, thin-walled tip that looks like a peice of electrical conduit, avoid that version at all costs. I've had mine for about 4 years and still looks & sounds great.
Here's the link for the GOOD version, you'd have to contact TopSpeed about availability
Infiniti G35 Sedan 2007-08 and G37 Sedan RWD & AWD 2009-12 Y-Pipe Back Exhaust System Bevel Edge Tips - Top Speed Auto Accessories, Inc.
Here's the crummy version just so you'll know
Infiniti G35 Sedan 2007-2008 and G37 Sedan RWD and AWD 2009-2012 Y-Pipe Back Exhaust System Angle Cut Tips - Top Speed Auto Accessories, Inc.
Here's mine, I blacked out the cans

You have a lot more than 3 choices . All most any catback will fit. The t case is not really in the way of anything . I was running a "RWD" Catback on my x coupe and then on my x sedan. Just look at the systems y pipe as long as it looks like the stock y pipe your fine
I have the Invidia fastback on my X sedan and it was a simple cut, flip and led job on one pipe and the system fit perfect. Also I'm lowered now and he Invidia isn't low to the ground like some of the other systems are. I wanted to go ARK but there is a spot in the exhaust near the middle of the car that sits low and will get hit. ANMVQ can attest to this now that he got his installed. The Invidia is nice, sounds good, but it doesn't have that badass powerful sound that the Ark does.
Note that I spoke to Josh at Top Speed in Addison TX a few weeks back and all of the TS Pro 1 Y-back kits are on backorder because of the strike at the Port of Los Angeles. He said then that they should be back in stock within a month, so a couple more weeks.
One thing to note about the Top Speed Pro setup is that maintains a consistent 60mm diameter from the Y-Pipe back, which is perfect because the OEM exhaust tapers the midpipe section down at the exit to around 50mm (starts off around 60mm to match the Y-Pipe, then gets neutered). On the coupe, this does not seem to happen at the same rate. In fact, you will see replacement axle-backs for the coupe list 60-70mm diameter where the sedan lists 50-60mm (Tanabe is one).
Since our Y-pipe is based on the 350Z HR Y-pipe, I see no reason to replace it. In fact, many of the people that complain about the famous Stillen drone have equated the drone to the lack of flex pipe on their replacement y-pipe. The Y-Pipe does not appear to be a weak link on these cars.
Of course all of this is open for argument as nothing has truly been documented, but I continue to think that the Top Speed Pro 1 setup is the best balance of perf/cost on the sedan.
The ONLY problem I see is that for some, the fitment looks awful. BLNEWT's looks right and I always come back to his photos, but I have seen some on here where the tailpipes stick out almost an inch further than they should, which makes it look like a hack job. BLNEWT - did you have to do anything special to get yours to look more OEM? Also, I saw in one post where you mentioned drone as well. Can you elaborate a little? Is it bad? Put yourself in a 40+ year old's shoes driving around execs. Does it pass the demographic test :-)

Socketz, my Pro1 was one of the first sets installed for the G37 sedan, the tips were a bit larger in diameter than the current sets. As far as tip length, they may be longer now. I'm not home until tomorrow night but can get a measurement from the can to the end of the tip so you'd have that to compare w/ what they are currently.
FWIW mine bolted up perfectly w/out any adjustment required.
The "drone-zone" is the usual 1500-1800 rpm and have found it's not at all obtrusive, plus I rarely run those rpms so it's not something that bothers me (and I'm 52 yrs old, lol). I've heard much worse drone, and it's just something that's inherent in most aftermarket setups.
There's a few clips of my G here~
Sorry to rehash this topic again but I was wondering if anyone has any experience running the top speed pro with a motordyne resonated xyz pipe? I'm pretty sure this setup will work for my 2012 g37x sedan just wondering what the sound would be like?
