I was looking for maybe an Autometer version--anyone have a link or an idea of the best place to buy? Anything I should look out for while doing this? Not boosting so fuel pressure is almost irrelevant.
Glad your issue turned out to be a (relative) non-event. You really couldn't have gotten much better news!

As far as gauges go, I have to say there aren't a whole lot of opportune locations, at least not any that don't look like an afterthought. The pillar sounds about as good as any. If you are just daily driving the car, I suggest a coolant temp gauge to go along with the OP gauge.

When I hooked up a ScanGauge and observed real temp readings in my car, I found the factory coolant temp gauge to be pretty lame, quickly rising to its 'normal' range even when the engine was still relatively cold (140*), and other times remaining in that same 'normal' range even when the temps were considerably higher (230*).

Seems this is somewhat common any more for manufacturers to do; don't want to scare all the customers with needless worries about a pesky needle moving around all the time, better to just leave it sit there motionless in the middle. To me, that's not of much use at all. They've clearly stroked all linearity out of it, and dampened it as well. I hate having a false sense of security, so if I were to add another gauge, it would be coolant temps.

I agree with BB though, if you're going to be running the car on a track, you really need to know oil temps.

I made a few notes in the thread I made (on testing your OP) regarding hooking up the OP gauge. There's not really anything new or special there; if you've hooked up a gauge before you shouldn't have any problems. I went with an Autometer digital gauge that I just picked it up off of Amazon.

You can buy a bluetooth ODBII adpater and you will be able to see a bunch of interesting data from the ECU. But unfortunately oil pressure is not one of them so you would have to installed an aftermarket gauge.

Here's what my "Torque" (an Android app that displays ECU info) looks like

Score one for the good guys. If you track, I'd put an oil temp gauge in the second pod.
Thanks BB. Really appreciate your honest insight and direction in this thread (and others). You helped prepare me for the worst, but I will be the first to admit that I dodged a bullet. For now, it's about damn time I do. Like I have said that in the past, I have been through some horror stories. Whether it was with my fully built 76mm turbocharged Saleen or with my stock BMW 335i, I got some to share over some drinks.

SERIOUSLY. I have my GTR fund which I do NOT want to touch.

Thanks for the advice. That's what I am leaning towards--just grabbing an Autometer digital off of amazon. Probably going to jump on that this weekend. Might pick up a little toy this weekend at the same time from my local Yamaha dealer, too. Lucky me!

Pretty cool technology. Not too sure I would benefit by having it on my phone since I want live results that aren't too hard to **** my head and view, but it's definitely cool. Once upon a time I looked into the screen replacement things that some have done. Too much work for not enough reward IMO, but cool none-the-less.

Hate to de-rail this thread past the original intention, but what options do I have for mounting these? I just now looked and I can't find an A-pillar gauge that would work well. I have a black/black but the a-pillar area is wrapped in tan. I don't want a black gauge pod. Ideas?

Here's the gauges i'm going with:

Amazon.com: Auto Meter 3321 Sport-Comp Mechanical Oil Pressure Gauge: Automotive Amazon.com: Auto Meter 3321 Sport-Comp Mechanical Oil Pressure Gauge: Automotive

You could always paint the pod to match the interior color. SEM makes some excellent paints for plastic and come in very large color pallet.

Mechanical eh? Do you really want to plumb hot pressurized oil into the cabin of your car?
If you do, I'd at least make sure to find one with an operating range that is broader than the normal pressure range the car produces (i.e. 100 psi is too low).
