60 000 Mile Maintenance question. Differential Oil....
Hey Guys,
I'm due for a 60 k maintenance on my 2010 X Coupe. 7 Speed Auto Tranny.
I was quoted 800$ at my local dealership, I find it quite expensive. Essentially to change differential oil, drive belts and lube up the doors.
I'd like to have it done by my mechanic, but can't seem to find the type of differential oil that is required. Anyone have experience doing this 60k maintenance themselves on a similar model.
Thanks for sharing!

go to page 10
80w90 for your X
If your belts not cracked or making noise then should be okay. Renewing all the essential oil/fluid should not be too difficult for DIY. There are a lot of DIY guides out there on how to change basically everything.

Never try to fix anything that isn't broke.
Just do an oil change and filter. Replace air filter if dirty. Replace cabin filter if more than a year old. All this you can do yourself.
Inspect the belts and if not cracked leave them alone.
Inspect your wiper blades and brake and power steering fluids.
You don't need a 60k mile service
Wait till 105k for plugs and change belts and coolant then

^^I do not agree with the statements above.
If you plan on keeping your car for a long time, the maintenance will pay off. Everything other than the trans fluid can be DIY. There's how to's for practically everything on this site. The diff is a piece of cake. You will have some investment in tools. If you're unsure of what you're doing, elicit the help of someone more knowledgeable to guide and supervise.
The auto trans requires a specific procedure when refilling, so that's best left done to a shop with proper tools (dealer?).
Waiting forever to remove the plugs may end up costing more if the plugs don't want to come out. Given the age of the car, I'd probably replace the belt regardless.
Coolant needs to be replaced regularly to prevent from becoming an electrolyte and eating away at engine internals. You can easily check this by sticking a lead of a volt meter into your coolant filler neck (in contact with the coolant) and grounding out the other lead. Ideally you should see 0 V.
