Good place to get tuned in North East?

I'm in Central NJ but went all the way to NH to get my Legacy GT tuned and CT to get my STI tuned so if it has to be that distance I am fine with it.

Also should I get a Motordyne Intake Manifold or just stick with the stock one? I plan on going FI once warranty goes out in 3 years so that would be replaced again when that happens so it would kinda be wasted money. The mods I currently have are as followed.

Stillen Gen3 Intake
Stillen Ground Kit
Z1Motorsports HFC's
Exoticspeed Titan CBE

JDS motoring in oldbridge did mine. As far as i know they are the only uprev tuner in central nj. They specifically focus on nissans. I highly reccomend them.

honestly id hold off. i dont see enough to warrent a $600-700 tune specially with HFC's. HFC's kill HP. you'll spend $600-700 but only AFR will really be adjusted. timing with HFC's cant really be increased because the heat stays in the headers making the motor knock easier. stock timing is around 22-23 degrees. im at 28. my buddy with a HFC's is still at 23. he gained power yes! but now hes going catless. id hold off untill you get more air into the motor like with ported TB's, upper and lower mani or if you want catless.

the fact that you went HFC's you're already playing with fire. a warrenty claim can already be denied because of that alone. i wouldnt worry about 3 more years. yes what you have is easier to remove then FI but you'd still have to remove that stuff and go back to OEM if you blow it up.

and a tunes not really a waste if you go FI down the road. you only need to buy the license once for the tune which is part of the $600-700.

From: Framingham Ma,
Just a question do you have proof that the 5 degrees really gives any gain. I Know with my HFC's (Z1) I'm at 23-22 Degrees timing. 28 in the upper RPM just sounds high to me. I would never go TP's just for inspection purposes and I'm not sure I want the added noise, But for others would be an option if there is real power to be made. ( More than 4-5 WHP)

When one decides to get a tune, can the shop handle this procedure “turn-key” or does the car owner need some sort of tuning hardware? In other words, if I bolted on some mods and needed a tune, would I need to buy an Uprev or similar device/software then get it tuned, or do I just need to go to the tuner?

My only experience with tuning was back in the early 2000's with an Eclipse AWD Turbo. You typically would buy larger injectors, then buy a device which fooled the stock ECU into adjusting the AF ratios...but this device remained plugged in all the time.

From what I've been reading on here the past couple of months, most people have the ECU reflashed rather than fooling it.

HEY HEY first off no super AFC talk here. LOL ..

You would have to go to a tuner get tuned. The fee would include a liscese for the tune but no cable or software. You can also try doing an Etune( Route I went) and you buy the cable+softward and you make pulls and send the logs back to the tuner.

Hmm thanks for recommending RT they are only 40 min away from me so will probably go there. So the tune doesn't come with the cable if I get tuned from them? I guess I may buy the Uprev standard then first and get a free etune first then when ready get tuned from them. Anyone know if a Accessport cable would work? I still have my STI accessport haven't sold it yet.

That's exactly what it was called (Super AFC) now that you've reminded me

When you did the E-Tune, did it really take 1-2 weeks to get the tune emailed back? Also, after flashing their E-Tune, do they offer another pull to make sure it can't be tweaked further? Or do you just buy another E-Tune?

Any concerns with upgrading too much at once and running too lean while making the pull or waiting on the tune from them?

I know cause I had one too, LOL 97 and a 98 GST Vert

It didn't take that long, I had the revised tune back with in 24 hrs sometimes with in 5 HRS lol, But me to got out and get logs is tuff. If you have a place you can use with no issues youd be done in like 3 days.
I use a member on here and the Z forum for my tune
