G35 Sedan 2007 Model - Overheat URGENT HELP!

Hi All,

I would please need an expert to give me a solution once and for all. I have had my infiniti g35 model for 7 years since its 2007 model and after the 100k i started to experience overheating problems continously! I went to the agent which is usually a total rip off and moved on to experts who do a better job than agent and still couldnt fix this problem.

It has now crossed 150+ K and its gulf spec usually, temp gauge is only two lines up. Now during my usage of the car, i changed everything that has to do with overheating. I started off with water pump (original and brand new) as there was leak in it. Did that and then it was ok, then back again same problem temp gauge starts to rise up, i took it again and they told me radiator to be changed. i changed it (original and brand new) for g37 along with condenser it comes and i kept the best coolant there is. Again problem came after a few weeks. Then an expert told me change the thermostat it looked really in bad shape and again i did that and kept (original and brand new from agent) i also kept the coolant again and now comes my main problem:

Water leaks directly from engine (not the spare yellow one) only from the engine. And that happens every 5 to 7 days. Meaning i have to top it up with normal sweet water when engine is cooled down. If i dont, the fan starts to work and temp gauge starts to rise up to half (so i have to move and then it will go down as normal) And we are in winter now, this should rarely happen.

I want to know why i am experiencing this water leak from the engine? Agent told me you have to bring down the whole engine and we fix its hoses and they are charging crazy amount. I dont want to do it that in any case, because its a risk if i bring down the engine and put back again it might screw up my whole car which is risky, and i personally dont believe it has to do with hoses/pipes damaged, because i did something with water hoses in the past and it was fixed.

A local garage told me same thing, bring down the engine, and there is something that is gasket i dont know what it is exactly. Now im lost and i need an expert who can help me solve this problem once and for all, because everything that has to do with overheating is changed to brand new and original. And these changes happened whenever i experienced the problem with the car, i didnt wait. I fixed it right away.

Would appreciate it

Thanks

Can you post a pick of where the water is leaking?

It could very well be a head gasket (which is a major repair), but it could also be a leaking hose in combination with air trapped in the system.

i cannot post pics unfortunately because whenever i top up the water i cannot see it leaking, but it disappears in a few days, and they told me about this head gasket thingy. Is it serious as you say a major repair? And will it involve bringing down the whole engine? Because if so, its risky as i see it and my infiniti may not preform well after its put back again. As you know this is an old car now which lasted 7 years and i have encountered lots of overheating problems with it.

How is this head gasket repaired and what is the nature of the job?

Thanks for your replies

The head gasket is the gasket that goes between the engine block and the cylinder head, therefore its replacement involves the removal of the cylinder head. Here is a link to the factory service manual if you want a complete breakdown of what all that entails: Index of /FSM/G35/Sedan/2007_G35_Sedan (Section: EM, around page 104).

This is VERY expensive to have done, and definitely not something you want to let anyone but a very competent mechanic perform on your car. It should also be said that there are diagnostic tests that can be performed to ensure that it is indeed a head gasket leak that is causing your problems. You do not want to tear a motor apart based on a hunch or some fools advice off the internet. I suggest you do some basic research on HG failures: https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q...ad+gasket+leak

Good luck.

Have you had a compression test done?
This test will confirm a head gasket problem

BTW I never let anyone but the dealer touch my vehicle

Every dealer has at least one certified Infiniti school trained specialist.
If I'm paying over $100/hr labor rate that is the person I would want to diagnose a complex problem. I'm sure they have seen the problem before.
A pressure test of your cooling system will confirm a leak location
Get an estimate of the repair from the dealer.
If too high trade it in as is.
That's what I did
A new vehicle comes with all new parts and a warranty
