Shift P Warning Problem

Okay so I have a problem with my car. It's a 2013 g coupe. The shifter is in the PARK position, because I can start the car when its in there and the circle is orange by P. However, when I turn off the car, I get a SHIFT p warning with a arrow show up. I don't think I am able to even close the car. And if I get out of the car with the intelligent key the car will chime continuously.

According to the manual this should only occur when the ignition is turned off and the car is not in park (P) position.

It looks like the computer or what ever is not registering that the car is in park, even though it is. I have done a ECU reset.

Anyone know anything about this? Thanks.

Sounds like the interlock switch might need adjusting. When I replaced my shifter with the Momo, I had this occur on a few occasions. I just adjusted the shifter and never had a problem since.

When you shift into park and shut the car off are you able to move the shifter WITHOUT pressing the button? Either way that switch probably needs to be adjusted, or replaced.

A 2013 should be under warranty so you won't have any problems I'm sure.

Hope this helps!

I assume with it being a 2013 you are still under warranty, just take it in.

I've heard dealerships refer to it as a "PRNDL" switch pronounced prindle.. could just be a defective switch.
