Clutch Pedal Play Changes Over Time?

I recently had my entire clutch system replaced (clutch, flywheel, pressure plate, CSC, and master cylinder). I also swapped out the clutch pedal spring to the lighter replacement.

One thing I noticed is that if I'm driving for longer periods or if I'm using the clutch a lot, the tiny amount of free play at the top of the clutch pedal starts getting bigger and bigger. Sometimes it gets to the point where I can shift into gear without even touching the clutch pedal.

I also noticed that when I'm on a hill I can't balance the car with the clutch/gas (I know this isn't good to do but it was a piece of cake with my previous 3 manual cars). It almost feels like the catch point keeps moving around so it bounces back and forth between almost stalling and the engine revving up all while keeping the clutch/gas in the same spot.

Has anyone else had these issues and any idea what it could be?

Just curious.... normal idle should be around 650ish... When you start experiencing problems with the bite point / rpm spikes... check what RPMs your car is idling at.

I'm currently having an issue where the car starts up/ idles / drive just fine for a while. After the engine gets the a certain temperature, I start getting the high idle (800-1000rpm) and RPM spikes. Also, it feels as though the accelerator pedal doesn't respond to the input correctly. You press it a bit, and get nothing, press it a bit more, and you get excessive power... making it difficult to start off in gear or accelerate smoothly. Also causes problems when balancing on hills. Sometime pressing the accelerator causes it to spike up and down.. so I have to play with the clutch to balance it and prevent a stall.

On hotter days, the problem happens more quickly. On colder days, sometimes it never happens. However... if I drive hard to heat up the engine.. i can almost always trigger the issue to happen.

After this happens, if i let it cool down a bit and restart the car, it will be fine again.

I've been itching to try an ECU reset, but don't want to mess anything else up. I've already done the relearns and idle reset.. but no help. I'm wondering if you're experiencing the same thing as me?

Flush your clutch fluid!! I was starting to get some alternating play on my clutch pedal when cold and I believe it was from air. Flushed the system and filled with some motul and it resolved the problem.

Had same issue, had air trapped in the master cylinder.. Bleed it a couple times and you'll be good.

Thanks all! I'll definitely bleed/flush my clutch fluid and see if that helps.

Out of curiosity, how high is your clutch pedal in relation to the brake pedal? Mine is slightly higher but I re-installed it that way after taking out the aftermarket RJM pedal to go back to stock. I can't recall where it was before I did all this...?
