Dei reflect a gold heat resistant tape for metal intake

Anyone use this on their intake tubes that are metal to reduce heat soak? It's supposed to reflect 80% of heat. I am thinking of trying this stuff for my Takeda Cai to reduce heat soak due to our high heat engine bays. Any helpful info would be great.

Anyone use this? I can't imagine all the people that have g3's that nobody has done this with some sort of heat reflective tape. When I had g3's on my 370 I noticed significant heat soak at traffic lights and in stop and go traffic in LA. Hoping to remedy some of this problem with this stuff.

I have it on my intake but I bought it used and that's how it came. If you are noticing your temperature gauge moving that's more so your oil getting hot. Should now invest in an oil cooler. Stillen or z1 oil coolers are good enough for everyday use.

Blingn' intakes

I use DEI heat tape on my Stillen Gen3. Works pretty well. the adhesive is on the cheap side so some of it may come off. The only major draw back is that this is the cheap stuff that will catch fire, but has to be over 600F I think.

I use exhaust wrap for headers, air temp is much better and much more closer to ambient, yes theirs a big difference once your at operating temp. The wrap better insulates in my mind, and I use the smaller 3/4" width so I'm able to go around the MAS. Makes thing much more consistent, efficient etc. For those of you with FI, your intercooler will thank you for not screwing with all that good work it just did for you.

Works pretty well for me too. Wrapped by IC pipes and SC pipe's.

Toyed around with the idea on my Titan. The wrap had no effect on inlet air Temps measured by Uprev logging. The only thing that worked solid was an in line resistor on the MAF that lowered IAT by 20 degrees with an on off switch. It really worked to prevent pulling timing. I'm guessing many here would say it's stupid but we made it work on the VK56. Basically made the ECU think it was 60* when it was actually 80* and cost about 5.00 to make one.

^ but engine will keep sucking hot air .. Ending up with poor performance.

Did you put more than one layer on the pipes? My intakes are not too hot after a drive but when it sits on traffic they still get hot.

So did you wrap the stock headers or did you buy some aftermarket ones? I've been thinking of wrapping mine too, so the engine bay temperature will be lower.

You get poor performance when the engine pulls timing. When the ECU is being tricked into thinking that it's cooler air coming in it performs relative to the air temp being given and doesn't pull timing. 660ohm resistor on the VK56 maf read 83* @ 85* ambient in real time using Uprev Cipher.
This mod was used during heat soak instances and turned off when not .

Yes I did, but the heat shield is a bitch but its back on. That made another good touch plus my thermostats much cooler 168 instead of the 182. I don't drive it in the winter, its my road trip sunny weather super heavy comfortable reliable track car. (edit- they are stock) and the car is pretty efficient and solid all around now. Except for the shotty flange on my ARK exhaust which is total bulls?!t and still not resolved!!

Ps. if guys don't know much about this kind of stuff and are going to wrap your intake or whatever... don't forget to seal and cure the exhaust tape. Its all pretty brainless and basic but a process, that's how it then insulates. To do this put aluminium foil laid out in you bbq, crank it to about 450F, prop your pipes up and let it cure for about 15 to 20min. It will smoke like crazy but don't worry.

If you don't have a bbq, use a friends and don't put this **** in the oven, smoke is a bit on the noxious side. So if you brain is small, (like mine) jk dont go breathing it in.
