Transmission Problem?

Not sure if this is a transmission problem or whether this is normal.

I am currently driving a 2010 G37X and occasionally when I accelerate and let go of the gas ( also in traffic). the RPM goes down which is normal but then for a quick second it sky rockets and starts breaking on its own ( engine breaking).

I was told with the 7 speed this sometimes happens...

From my understanding - it lowers the gear and causes the engine to break which is normal.. but i would think the reaction time should be faster?

Any ideas?

Thanks!
