Use a Hypertech tuner or something similar to increase the rev limiter. I would be careful about doing that, as there have been cases of high revs + high G turns causing the motor to become starved of oil and blowing up.

Yes, after plugging the Hypertech controller into the OBDII port, you can choose to add power maps, and to up the rev limiter. I had a Hypertech tune on my car for a while, but I got a real tune from Uprev and sold my Hypertech controller already.

This is an interesting thread. What maximum RPM do you intend to raise the engine to? And to what end?

As far as reasoning, it should give more power at the top end. That's not usable power for 99.9999999% of drivers, but neither is a tow hook, so...yeah.

If you built your motor, I could see a reasoning for raising the rev limiter, otherwise, how often do you redline it anyways?

I would not push it any higher than 8000rpm.

AFIK, it doesn't exactly add more power. Our cars generate peak power before redline. What it does do, is allow you to better straddle peak power as you shift without bouncing off the rev limiter. I now some people who are hardcore drag racers benefit from this sort of thing. For any sort of daily driving, honestly even for non-drag track driving, I don't think you'll see any benefit at all.

The funny thing is that the torque curve starts dropping off around 7600 rpm I noticed after my tune. There is a point where the engine just won't "pull" any harder after a rpm is reached. I didn't understand that until my.tune and seeing the Dyno results. My .02

Umm sorry to burst your bubbles here, but the Hypertech tuner cannot increase the rev limiter - only decrease it. Rev Limit -500 to 0 RPM

Thats because your throttles start to close at that rpm, you can tune them by UpRev and have them open in full at that rpm , it's there in ur TP table.

My Rev limit was increased to 8500 with the Uprev tune. I'm speaking of the point where my relatively flat torque curve starts dropping off even with more RPM. It starts around 7300 rpm and steadily drops. I have only really bounced off the rev limitor twice.....

With Supercharged cars, going in to a higher RPM is understandable as the higher the rmp the more power a supercharger puts down.. just not too high to blow the motor

I have my rev limit up to 8k. here is the dyno. you sustain more top end power but its relatively flat and slightly decreasing after 7500

Intakes/HFC/catback

Those are some nice numbers

Thats pretty much what mine looks like but the Mustang dyno I ran on gave me 285 max HP w/ 226 max TQ. The TQ curve was pretty flat and I can feel the difference throughout the gears as a steady pulling that doesn't let up. This made me a happy man.
