Stains on Coolant Reservoir Tank

Hello everyone. So, I finally took the plunge and cleaned my engine bay. It looks good, except for one problem. Seeing as how in the past I had not really cared about the aesthetic condition of the engine bay, I did not really mind when I dripped oil all over the engine cover and other plastic parts when I did my oil changes.

However, after cleaning the engine bay, I see that there are some yellow stains on the plastic coolant reservoir tank (they are literally yellow drop/puddle-shaped stains). I had thought they would come out after the cleaning, but they did not. I do not know if oil can stain, but that is my best guess for what is on the tank. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get rid of the stains (short of getting a new coolant tank)? Thanks in advance.

need a new tank. Other than that try some degreaser or simple green. Not sure if either is safe for the whole engine bay though.

I already tried taking some Simple Green sprayed on a rag used to scrub the reservoir, but those stains are not moving. Also, I used Simple Green for the whole engine bay when I cleaned it (diluted, of course). I see no adverse effects (yet).

If I paint the whole reservoir tank, then how am I going to see the level of the coolant?

Remove the tank, out a strip of tape over your fill line, and pull it off when you're done. It'll allow you to see the level! Simple. One of the other members did it and painted his black; it's a very clean look. IMO, the white tank in the middle of all that black is an eyesore.
