Transmission oil leak

My 2010 G3 coupe 7 AT with approximately 25,000 miles is leaking transmission oil at the place where the rear end of the transmission is attached to the transfer case rod right above the transmission pan.

It is a slow leak. None has dripped onto the garage floor yet. I just noticed the leak when getting underneath the car to do a motor oil change.

Please see attached photo. The front of the car is to the right of the transmission pan. The rear of the car is to the left of the transmission pan.

Anyone seen this before?

Thanks.

I have not seen that before and I have an 08 with 43,000 I would take it to the dealer and get it fix your powertrain warranty is 5 year 60,000. Its mostly likely a faulty seal.

Yep, that's a weeper.

Probably not a big deal, but by all means have it fixed if you are still under warranty...

Update

The dealer inspected the leak. They think it is the red sealant used in sealing up the transmission case. They cleaned it up and booked an appointment for one week later to see if its still leaking and go from there.

@pcwd, how is your car? I just found small leak in the same location. I doubt that is sealant, as far as I know transmission oil is also red.

Hi there,

Mine was not a leak. It was the sealant used to seal up the transmission case. Dealer cleaned it off and it never returned.

For reference, this is how mine looked. I've cleaned it too. Will check in couple weeks if leak returns.

When I see stuff like this it makes me think back to my 1st and 2nd car and how many problems they had. A tiny leak like this wouldn't even have been noticed. Nowadays, I'm right there with ya, if there's even a rub or scrape on an axle boot, I start shopping for another lol.

It's been more than a month since I noticed the "leak". I've checked it again this weekend and everything is clean. So maybe it is a sealant.
