Throttle body cleaning
Throttle body cleaning
Hello all,
I'm having issues with my car stalling out right after it starts. Doesn't happen every time, maybe 5 times in 3 months. I've searched and most posts are recommending a throttle body cleaning. I've already taken my car to the dealership twice on this and I want to have it this time resolved for sure. The only thing they've done is an idle relearn. I'm not sure what else they have checked, but they have no notes about cleaning the throttle body.
I have a 2012 with 32k miles. Yes I know it's a lot for a 2012, but is it reasonable to need to need the throttle body cleaned this early? I know I've put on a lot of miles in a short time, but from what I've seen most people don't need it cleaned it until much later. Correct me if I'm wrong please. I don't drive my car especially hard and I don't track it. If it is the throttle body, what could be causing it to need a cleaning so early? I would like to fix the core problem if possible(especially if it's free under warranty
). Thanks.
Frustrated and Annoyed.

Sounds reasonable to me. Combustion byproducts and particles in the air tend to dirty up the throttle bodies over time/distance. If they can't replicate the problem they won't be able to solve it.
There's a DIY TB cleaning thread on here, give that a try.

Thanks for the reply. The new dealer I went to was able to pull some error codes. They replaced some part (wasn't the throttle body, don't have the paper with me right now so don't remember the exact part). I'll try to post it later.
