Oil and Filter Change

The dealership changed the oil in my car today and informed that new air filters were needed. It would cost $32.00 a piece to install them.

I went to Autozone and got both for $30.00 and installed them in under a couple of minutes.

Sheesh..

Buying new cabin or engine air filters are a waste of money to me. Those products cost pennys to manufacture and marked up super high because they know consumers like us will buy them.

I usually take out filters and clean them myself. This includes vacuuming all the trapped particles inside, washing it out with very light detergent, and allowing them to competely dry before putting it back into the car. They are pretty much good as new after all of this.

Does anyone else do what I do?

I sense some sarcasm in your comment.

Well, yes.

Of course you should be changing your own air filter. Anything that saves you money without getting dirty or having to bend over... that's a win.

It did not require either of those and was the simplest filter change I had ever encountered.
