AT oil is cooled by the coolant. When you got oil in the coolant or coolant in the oil, you have leak in the line. Definitely have it fixed or the new oil will be ruined again. Did you check how's your coolant like? This may be where the missing oil went.

Sounds like the trans cooler was damaged.

Unless there is body damage; warranty will cover it.

op-i see u bought it used-was the car ever in a accident??? i think thats how my transmission fluid got contaminated

OP, the best thing you can do, as previously stated... take it back, road test with a tech, and do your best to duplicate the problem. We all know there's some crazy mojo that seems to temporarily fix cars when a tech is with you, but let's hope that's not the case this time.
