Front timing cover

Quick background: CEL kept coming on repeatedly over past 5 weeks. No error codes. Went into limp mode the other day when the CEL came on again. Towed to dealership. Still no error code. The dealership called infiniti tech who told them they thought the front timing cover is folded. Currently waiting for parts to change it.

Does this sound right? shouldn't there have been oil or coolant or something leaking? The car is still under warranty so it's not costing me anything and they gave me a loaner, but I really want this to be the end of this and it just sounds strange to me.

Thoughts??

(Oh...2009 g37s 6mt. No engine mods)

There is an undocumented issue with the timing cover.
Apparently an oil feed passage way gets blocked, causing a low oil pressure condition, that would cause limp mode.

I'm still under factory warranty so no worries there.
Just a pain taking the car in constantly. My dealer is a 40 minute drive away.

Thanks. Hopefully that's it and I can finally be done with this!
