Hi,

I'm new to the Infiniti family, but not so much to performance cars. I just picked up an 08 G37 coupe and have been very pleased with it with the exception of the differential.

I haven't found too much discussion after hours with the search function, but if what I've found is correct then the non s model doesn't have posi and the s model does. I didn't even consider that to be a possibility in a rear wheel drive performance car these days so I didn't ask before I bought it.

Am I understanding this correctly, and if I am is it a clean swap if I pick up a rear diff from an s model?

Correct, only the Sport models have LSD. Yes you could swap out the entire differential or you could buy an OEM or aftermarket LSD.

 

Thanks for the quick help. I've seen a couple used LSDs on ebay for $300-400. The aftermarket ones I've seen are well over 1k.

As long as its another differential from a 5speed automatic I should be good right? Will any others be a direct fit? Any other compatibility issues?

 

MT and AT differentials are not directly compatible. Any 5 AT differential will work. I'm not sure what it would take to make that work. Maybe somebody with more experience with them than me can advise you.
