Rev Limiter in Park

Is there any way of getting past the 5K rev limiter when in Park or Neutral? The revs are only restricted to 5K rpm from what I know.

Possible with a CONSULT, but not too sure why you would desire to do so.

What exactly is a consult? It just sounds so much better when revving when you can go past 5K. For example check out this vid.

Revving the engine that high with no load is a no no. That rev limiter is an idiot lockout to keep people from red lining it without a load and damaging it. Then posting a "What's wrong with my engine?/Infiniti sucks!" thread as if its the car's fault.

I thought the redline is there for preventing the engine from being harmed in the first place... In any case, I never said anything about redlining it in the first place. I was simply asking if there's a way to get the revs past 5K....

Hypertech?

RPM “Rev” Limiter

In today’s vehicles, the onboard computer controls maximum engine rpm. The stock computer is programmed to shut down the engine when it reaches its redline. But if you have modified your vehicle to increase its high-speed performance, more rpm means more power. When you shift gears with the stock rpm limit, the engine falls back to below the peak of its horsepower curve. When you extend the engine’s rpm range with the Max Energy Power Programmer, your engine has more power available after gear changes. By adjusting the maximum rpm to keep the engine in the “sweet spot” of its power curve, you can increase the average horsepower that accelerates the vehicle.

This applies when you are driving the vehicle under load, not revving the engine sitting still in the driveway. This is what I was trying to explain. There's a difference in the stresses put upon engine components when they are driving moving parts of the car vs when they are just freely spinning sitting still.

I'm with BB on this one.

Why would anyone wanna rev the engine in park? Ad what purpose would it serve to work our engine like that.

Maybe a civic would be a better choice car for the OP.
