Slave/Master Cylinder Out
Well you heard it. My slave and master cylinder went out at 61,000 miles
Worst part is I just dropped $$$ for a new clutch kit and flywheel. Took it to Tustin Infiniti yesterday. They are Quoting me $1,200 for the install and parts. Those who have gotten this fixed, is this a fair price? I also tried cerritos infiniti but their customer service is so bad I couldn't even get ahold of them for a quote.

If it's not warranty, i'd take it to a local performance shop. I'm sure the labor would be cheaper and they likely see more manual cars than the dealership does.
$1200 seems on the high side. What's the break down parts/labor?

Slave cylinder replacement requires dropping the tranny which will be billed as about 5 hours give or take. Master will probably be billed as about 2 hours. Factor in the cost of OEM parts bought through the dealership and it sounds pretty close.
If your dealership charges $125/hr labor, that is $875 for labor and $325 parts. That sounds about right, give or take.
The takeaway for anyone else reading this, always replace the OEM slave cylinder (they are not known to be very durable) at the same time you are replacing a clutch and/or flywheel. Save yourself a lot of $ rather than spending money on labor dropping the tranny twice. I'd recommend spending he extra money and getting a heavy duty Zspeeed CSC over an OEM one.

^^ 5 * 125 = $625. I have in mind a price of $500 being reasonable for clutch R&R. Thus my comment about a performance shop probably being able to do it cheaper and better.

Not sure on the exact price yet. They just quoted me 1200 and they are looking the car over today to get me an exact quote.
Problem is my clutch peddle didnt drop like most cars. The clutch still springs up but on and off in the last couple months the clutch has been engaging all the way (the clutch will just spin when im in gear). Last couple days it got so bad the car would barely accelerate in 2nd-4th gear. This is a slave cylinder problem right? Because now that its at the dealership they arent having the problem. Should I tell them to just go through with it and get it replaced. Or could this be a different problem?

@BB, got it. Didn't think getting the master out was so time consuming. I still think a performance shop which sees manual cars on a regular bases is a better place to get the repair done however.
@Bluestickg, you saying the engine rpms go up, but car barely accelerates? That's more indicative of either a worn clutch, or one NOT FULLY engaged. Normally with a slave failure, you can't get the clutch to disengage (for shifting/taking off purposes). I suppose it's possible for the slave to be jammed partway, but find it unusual.

See thats my problem Im not sure what to do. The clutch was just replaced. Thats what I thought the problem was. But after the clutch it still did it. And lately its been getting really bad. Yeah like i can hear and see the rpms rising but the car doesnt accelerate. usually in 2-4th gear. Like the clutch is not fully engaging. Now the dealership cant duplicate the problem and they dont know what to do. I was barely able to get it to the dealership because it kept slipping...

Yes I did. The second time around. That's how I know it's better/cheaper to just replace it whenever you replace the clutch.
I just paid $1200 at a Canadian Dealer to have my clutch master replaced with OEM, and install aftermarket HD slave cylinder, clutch, flywheel.
They did not charge extra for the clutch/flywheel.
I was billed for 7.75 hours, job took em over 9.

So I was pretty close. If you'd changed the clutch/flywheel and then had to go back later to replace the CSC, you'd have had to pay all of that labor again. Which is why I said it's better to bite the bullet and get it all done at once.
Why hasn't Nissan figured this issue out? This is one of the most common issues we see here on the forums and there really is no cure other than replacing the same crappy slave with another crappy slave...SMH
