GTM TT on a G37 daily driver - reliability?
Howdy all,
I have a relatively new 2012 G37s 6MT. Of course, I wanted to make it a little faster so I started adding parts via Z-Car Garage (the tuner).
One thing led to another and I ordered the GTM Stage 2 TT from Sam. I tripped over some posts that have me a little worried. I use the car as a daily driver and I will realistically keep it for 50K miles. The tuner assured me that it would be a perfectly reliable daily driver with the TT on it, especially since I already added the JWT clutch and flywheel.
How reliable would a conservatively driven TT'd G37 be? I don't plan to ever track it (drag or otherwise). What I don't want is a bunch of little problems that require constant trips to the tuner to sort out.
Are there any things that can be done to increase reliability (ex. a water-meth kit)?
Thanks a ton in advance!!

You got some other things you need to add to help with this. How many miles do you drive a day each way? Do you sit in tons of traffic? If you sit in traffic, you may have an overheating problem, especially during the summers out there in Cali. You may also want to look into the different types of coolers available for the G37's to help alleviate that problem.

Never had a problem with overheating in cali in traffic. When you are in stop and go traffic, you are also not boosting or hitting high revs. The temperature stay around stock
When you do normal driving. But if you are constantly boosting, such as when you are on a track, then you will see temp issues. Either way you should get an oil cooler. I daily drove my TT for a year in Cali with no problems.

Hehe. He won't have any overheating issues since he lives by the bay in NorCal.
Op, I doubt you will have a whole lot of problems running it DD. Like Modme was saying as long as you don't always go into boost you'll be fine during stop and go traffic. A meth kit will definitely benefit you but I can bet you Rob will not recommend you getting that. That will keep your IAT's down and prevent any detonations. An oil cooler is a must with a remote oil cooler supplement kit(thermostat) I would recommend getting some gauges too. Boost, oil temp, afr, oil pressure, egt. Those are the basic gauges you can get and pls get the digital ones and have it integrated into your stock screen for a clean look.

Thanks for the responses guys! I should have mentioned that I bought the biggest oil cooler GTM has as well.
Coincidentally, Rob just called me to tell me that the sensors for the digital gauges are in.
I feel loads better now that I am not going to regret adding TT.

you are fine, especially with the oil cooler. I daily drove mine for a little while before also. But I live in MD, oil temp was never an issue even without the cooler and running on a track for 5 laps in the summer. The only issue I see with your setup is the JWT clutch, im afraid that is not going to last if you punch it a couple times from a dig. JWT = a modified stock clutch with a little more clamping force. However you have a easy clutch to engange. Just giving you my thoughts. good luck and keep us posted.
