Just call your service department at your local dealership and ask them if you have the latest update. They can look it up.

I asked about the tranny upgrade and was told I'd lose some fuel economy for a "smoother" shift. I was also told by a tech. at the dealership (he owns a G) he regretted the upgrade on his car because he feels it doesn't have the sportiness that it did prior. This is just what I was told a month or so ago. It made me rethink the idea.

Brother, that may not be the programming. Is your car still under warranty? If so I would take it in for a check-up. Mine just did hard down shifts coming to a stop sometimes.

Yes. Under warranty. Will definitely take it in. Just wanted to be prepared when they say "cant reproduce".
Can you speculate root cause?

Honestly I can't say. I don't know a whole lot about these cars yet, but I did work in a shop when I was younger and what your saying doesn't really sound like the symptoms of the OEM tranny program issue. If it's only happening in or around 4th gear then I'd say it's more then just the program. Just take it in and be positive, assertive, and direct when you speak to the service writer. They can smell someone that feels at their mercy.

I reset my ECU about 2-3 weeks ago for the first time with the battery disconnect and I haven't had the tranny lag issue again since then. /cross fingers
