Knocking/Pinging on an 08 coupe

My g37 coupe constantly knocks and pings, and has been doing so since I got it as a cert pre owned. It mostly does it when engaging the clutch in first gear. I never not use premium fuel, so what can be done to stop or avoid the knocking/pinging?

Use premium fuel man. Our engine is required to use 91 or higher octane and most likely that's the reason why you're knocking. Hopefully you haven't done any damage yet. GL

he said he never not use premium........double negative + improper english = he uses premium

considering he got it pre-owned, its possible the owner before him didnt use premium

I'd take it to the stealership before it becomes a kaboom.

I suppose you could disconnect the battery for 5 minutes to reset the ecu and see if that resolves it. Could just be an ecu glitch.

You aren't running aftermarket intakes or anything like that are you? They can make the car run lean (usually not a problem, but there's always exceptions)

LOL! I had to read his sentence again... double negative is no no.

Have you looked at the VVEL TSB yet?

Either way, I'd definitely bring it in to be looked at.
