check engine light came on and car wouldnt move.. very strange

whats up. i was driving my girlfriends 2009 g37x coupe.. took a sharp right turn under mild acceleration (not much, seriously) and all the sudden i felt a sudden jerk and it wouldnt let me accelerate at all. THe car was in D but it was acting like it was in neutral rolling down the slight incline i was on.. i stopped, turned it off, then back on again, and did this a few times until it worked. It drives fine, but theres a service engine soon light on.. why is this? it is an 09 g37x with 32k miles. only mod is a short ram intake (2 cone filters)

From: Framingham Ma,
Take it to you local Autozone and see if you can pull the code.. I know there is a way to get the code reading how many times the CEL blinks but I do not remember..

i got the code just now. PO605 - PCM ROM (read-only memory). My buddy works at exxon and he just found the code and cleared it.. my question is what does that code really mean and what could have caused it?

Trouble diagnosis name: Engine control module

Component Description

The ECM consists of a microcomputer and connectors for signal input and output and for power supply. The ECM controls the engine.

DTC detecting condition:

* ECM calculation function is malfunctioning.
* ECM EEP-ROM system is malfunctioning
* ECM self shut-off function is malfunctioning.

Possible cause:

* ECM may be faulty

My question is if you saw that it was causing a problem, why the hell did you let your friend clear the code. Now the dealer won't be able to diagnose the problem till the SES light shows up again.

i let him clear the code because we have an aftermarket intake on the car and needed to drive it from MD to NJ where the stock intake is located so that i could put it on and then bring it to the dealer.. he told me it was just a glitch in the system and could be heat related. Car drives perfect now..

we arent too worried about it, just more-so curious as to why it could have happened.. if there is really an issue it will pop on again.. if not we probably wont even bother taking it to the dealer.

I wouldn't have cleared that code. Especially since it could be a faulty ECM. Hopefully it was just a fluke.

it was almost definitely a fluke.. put about 400 miles on it since that happened with no issues whatsoever. i think it was a combination of somewhat rough driving and excessive heat.

Sorry for the resurrection of such an old thread but I had to chime in.
Recently I had the same issue with my car under the same circumstances. I was driving into a switch-back, so it was a sharp right-hand 180 degree turn. It was also up an incline. As soon as I came out of a very tame turn, I continued up hill and suddenly, no throttle response, same error code, and the traction light illuminated. I've cleared my code also as I want to see if it returns or not before engaging the dealer. Time will tell, interesting it sounds like a very similar scenario to this post.

Peace folks!
