how do you know your clutch went out? is your clutch pedal dropped down to the floor? what is it doing?

I think clutches are supposed to gradually go bad like brake pads. Ive read of slave cylinders going bad. If your clutch pedal is just stuck to the floor, that may be your problem.

clutches doesn't usually don't just go bad unless you're always burning the flying crap outta it or doing some worthless launches imo. however they do wear out as time goes by.

OP: if your clutch pedal is stuck to the floor then you just became another victim of the notorious master slave cylinder and should be covered under manufacture warranty.

my dealer quoted me $1800 for a new clutch disc and $500 for install. if possible go with an independent shop and get an aftermarket setup.

^ lol, $1800 for a clutch disk is insane. do you mean flywheel & clutch disk and related parts? our cars have dual-mass flywheels which are very expensive so i could see $1800 for a full re & re, but no way for just the clutch disk.

No way I'd go to the dealership. Plenty of shops could install an aftermarket for half that including labor.
