I can't believe the 09s wasn't included with the recent update. We have suffered the longest but still no love from Infiniti. Maybe, we should start some type of petition on change.org.

09 Original vs. 10/11/12 Update

Has anyone compared how an 09 with the original (no updates) 7AT programming performs to a 10/11/12 with the latest TSB?

Coming from a 6MT Corvette, I've never been happy with the 7AT because it shifts somewhat slowly and has an occasional hesitation. But, it works pretty well most of the time. I have a BB grounding kit which may have helped some...

I love DS with its aggressive nature which always seems to impress me how it downshifts and holds gear selection, so I'm wondering what the update will do if it ever comes out.

All this being said, does an 09 actually perfirm better if I dont mind hard downshifts?

Had my 09 for a couple years prior to the 175 TSB update last year. It upshifted really well under hard throttle, the 7AT really labored at slight throttle around town where it would have to decide to downshift or continue running the same gear, just never seemed consistant and when it did downshift it was clunky and very obtrusive. With the 175 update everything is smoother but a bit sedated. I really don't mind its' current performance, especially in DS mode but the lag is something that gets annoying along with the "spool-up" when slowing down abruptly and then the delayed "clunk". Sure hoping we're in line for this new & improved flash, it will have me looking much closer at other vehicle models if they leave us in the dust

This isn't related to the reprogram but it's related to the transmission...

So I just had my 30K service on my 2009 G recently, and since then it seems like the car has an issue when I brake harder at a stop light, and need to make a right turn...after I release the brake, the car hesitates to move when I put my foot on the gas pedal. It seems like it lags for 1 second before moving. And when it moves it automatically moves like I'm trying to floor it..this could be dangerous if I'm put in the wrong situation.
The thing is before I had my service this never happened. The car is definitely a lot smoother to drive after but now it seems I've developed that new problem...anyone experience the same thing and is this an issue with the tranny or my driving? haha

Actually it sounds like they DID reprogram your trans.. I suspect they gave you the ITB10-075, which is the latest program available right now for the 2009. This is exactly the behavior you get with that program: LAAAAAAAG when you try to accelerate after slowing to about 20~25 MPH to make a turn. Congrats, your 2009 now lags like my 2011 did until the latest ITB12-027. You'll need to wait (and hope) for them to release the next update for the 2009 to make it behave more like the 2012 does. My 2011 just got that update and the lag issue has been solved. I waited a year for it, hopefully you and the rest of the 2009s don't have to wait much longer!

Thanks for the info. I think I'll skip the 175 update.

So I got my 15K service done last Thursday and wanted to spend some miles on her before I posted my thoughts on the transmission flash / update.

I agree that the car seems much more lively and responsive. This is at all times I think. Some of the worst lag that I saw was slowing down to make a turn, then getting on the gas where it just did nothing. That is almost gone. I saw almost cause I'm still noticing a bit of hesitation, but it is leaps and bounds better than it was. Also the transmission is making faster decisions with less throttle input. The times I notice the lag is when I really get on it after slowing down where the car wants to downshift by more than 1 gear. Has anyone else seem this?

Overall this is a much welcomed improvement. I'm enjoying the car more than I have in the last 6 months. I'm just hoping that by the time I want to replace this one, they have a true DCG, then it all becomes a non-issue.

has anyone had any incident where the ECM couldn't be reprogrammed? i called the dealer to schedule an appointment to have it done to my '11 sedan but was told that SOME ECM could not be reprogrammed and they had to order a brand new one. If that happens they said i would be without a car for a couple of days.. :/? Any input would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I had the new update (ITB12-027) on my 2009 xS yesterday. I had my car in for some other nonsense and casually mentioned to my guy in the service department about the new TSB (I have had it in for the same symptoms previously). He had my car all day and it involved several calls to Infiniti cooperate, but they put the TSB on my car even though it is a 2009. I don't think my experience will by typical, it was an involved process to get the update approved to go on my 2009. Mike Ward Infiniti in Denver has a top notch service department, in my experience.

I haven't driven it enough to give a confident review, but I will highlight what I have noticed so far.
1. The downshift/engine braking near 20mph is gone, completely.
2. Feels generally smoother through the gears on accel, no hard shifts into 3rd anymore.
3. Some people have reported better low end torque... if it has improved it is so slight that it is beyond my ability to notice.
4. Acceleration in DS feels about the same, but the transitions between gears are smoother.
5. Less gear hunting when I smash the accelerator, albeit it is still an auto and takes a moment. There is less of the "lag" that has been characteristic to our cars.

I'll update if anything changes, or I notice anything new.

That's great to know that it can be done to our 09s, I will be hitting up Towbin Infiniti on our trip to Vegas in a couple weeks, Maybe by then the update will be officially released for the rest of us
