G37 7speed transmission reprogram
As Ive mentioned before, I think Infiniti wants the 7AT to work across their model lineup...if thats true, they have a pretty big interest in making sure it works well otherwise there will be too much bad press to keep selling it.
This is good to hear, while I'm not having nearly the same problems as some people here, I do get the coasting hesitation often enough that I want it fixed on my 2011.
Is the dealer obligated to apply this TSB just from you complaining about it and showing them this TSB listed on this thread?
I ask this because last time I was there I aired my complaints and they were aware of it but they said they would have to keep the car all day (and give me a loaner) to "test it out."
That's all fine and dandy but if my complaints mirror what the TSB will fix then I really don't want the hassle of dropping my car off in the morning, go back home and then having to go back to pick it up 8 hours later on the other side of the city (my dealer is 30 miles from my house) and then having to go home in the middle of rush hour which will take at least 2 hours of what is usually a 25 minute commute during non rush hour driving.

It apparently takes more than an hour with the car hooked up to their system for the flash program update. I've heard that BMW requires "hours" on the machine for an update.
I'm driving 50 miles each way, getting a loaner and spending some of the day in the area while they work on it.
@Yosemite: No I would say they are not obligated to, however the TSB instructs them to do it if any of the symptoms is observed, and it takes just a 5 minute ride with a tech to demonstrate the issue to a technician. The techs are much more perceptive and honest about things than a service advisor is, so ask for a tech. In my case, all I did was call my dealer and said "the problems I've been complaining about seem to be addressed now with this new TSB and I would like to make an appointment to come in and have it done." He asked me to email him the TSB info I found (they were not yet aware of it at my dealer) and we were all set. I'd also previously spent time with them demonstrating the issue to the tech so they already knew me and the car so that probably helped. It depends on what kind of relationship you have and/or want to have or maintain with your dealer too. I like to keep things friendly and cooperative. If you arent looking to keep things friendly then you could probably mention "infiniti consumer affiars" in the conversation.
I think the reason the dealers may be reluctant to treat this like a must-have update is probably because they have been instructed by Infiniti to play it down, and Infiniti tends to keep the dealers in the dark too (in my opinion and little experience). Infiniti's lawyers no doubt told them to treat it as just an optional tweek, not a "FIX" for a "Problem". This is understandable in our litigious US, even though none of us like having our time wasted.

Dumb question- But why wouldn't the dealership just perform the TSB? I assume they get paid from Infiniti just like any other warranty work. It's not like the transmission issue is just some of the 09-11 as I think all of them have the same issues but some people it just bothers more.

The problem affects all of the 09-11 7AT G's, some people just don't seem to notice it (I've driven a few and they all do the same thing).
I think the dealers are just told to play it down... Infiniti doesn't want this to cost more than it has to. You can see by the language of the TSB that they are offering this "if you observe so-and-so behavior".
Aside, and My 2 cents: Anyone whose arrogant or belittling comments in this or other threads bordered on ridicule and personal insults toward fellow G37 owners should probably apologize. The problem clearly IS there in all the 7AT Gs, and the infiniti technician I rode with said this too. Like I said some people just do not notice it or maybe don't care.
My appointment is for Wednesday!

Like most people here, I have experienced the lag on my 2011. Having taken the car in on 2 prior occasions I have essentially accepted that there wasn't much they could do. Having read about the new TSB, decided to give it another shot with the dealer.
Armed with the ITB number I dropped the car off this morning. Ironically, they had given me a 2012 as a loner with slightly over 1500 miles on it.
I picked up my car this afternoon. Service adviser confirmed them performing ecu/tcm update (I wish they had noted the actual number in the work order, but whatever)
Please take the observations with a grain of salt since the commute from the dealer was approximately 30 min of mostly highway driving. With that said, in terms of responsiveness, the car did feel similar my 2012 loaner from earlier in the day. The few times coasting at 20-30mph which has been the most noticeable problem area for me, I believe the throttle response has improved.
I'm not ready to say its fixed until I put more miles on it, but it felt promising.

I have a 09 G37xs and had the older update flash done when it was released. It did help the harsh downshift and felt much smoother when downshifting but at the expense of less aggressive response(in retrospect, wish I've never done it, oh well). I tried some of the suggested solutions to make our car more enjoyable to drive, like resetting the ECM every so often, use synthetic oil and hypertech. The harsh down shift is very minimal, only on rare occasion it happens but the lag is still there (hypertech does help but not like it was pre-flash).
Those who had the latest update done, please post your experience in regards to acceleration/throttle response. I consider this a safety concern as oppose to better driving experience as it can be dangerous in certain situation. I understand the update is for 2010-11. I just want to know what I have to look forward to if/when they release an update for 09. TIA

Just to provide a quick update. During the commute back from work, I attempted to reproduce the lag that I have seen prior to the update, but interestingly enough, I wasn't able to do so. The car seemed considerably more responsive in the 20-30 mph range than what I'm used to.
I am still not quite ready to say this is solved until I get to do a bit more driving, but based on what I have seen so far I am cautiously optimistic. I'd like to see feedback from anyone else who's had their G updated.
