G37 7speed transmission reprogram
I'm assuming this is the old update/TSB from a year ago. It will go back to its old self after a few hundred miles. The issue is in the code for the intelligent software.
Hate to repeat the question but.....
Has anyone heard any more news on a newer update yet?
I can't get anything from official sources.
I drove a 335i yesterday (new but 2011 model) which is steeply discounted due to being the "old" body style. It is beckoning.....
So I don't know whether to wait for a new update which is only an UNconfirmed rumor, or give up on this. I like this car, just can't stand the 7at issue anymore.

Today I went to the Infiniti dealer (which is 90 minutes away) in a different vehicle, not in my 2011 G. (Yes yes I know I should have taken the G!)
I drove my 2011 all day yesterday (cursing the 7AT as usual lol) and it exhibited the usual 7AT issue.
This 2012 had just 20 or so miles on it. It might be "too new" to exhibit the problem. I don't think they had anything there with more miles on it. I don't remember this happening with my 2011 until I had at least a couple hundred miles on it.
Now, the roads I drove the 2012 on were not familiar so I did not get to just drive naturally which is when I experience the problem most often, so I had to consciously try to duplicate the problem, which is not really a fair test.
It should be noted that I experience the problem on my 2011 a few times each drive. It's not an isolated problem, it happens frequently.
The 2012 did not seem to exhibit the problem that I have on my 2011. Now, I never "try" to replicate the problem on my 2011, it just does it in my normal driving. So this was not a perfect test. It is possible that "trying" to make it happen could mask the problem. I need to "try" to do it on my 2011 to see what it does then.
So.....I am cautiously optimistic that they may have solved the problem in the 2012 but not entirely convinced yet. I am going to drive my 2011 back there in a couple days, drive the same "course" in my 2011, then perhaps drive the 2012 again and try to do the same things to see if it will hiccup like my 2011 does very frequently.
The dealer does not know if there's any update coming for the 2011, and they did not know if the software in the 2012 is any different. Basically, they have heard nothing, not even rumors, about any future update.
I don't know what to do next. I really want to get some assurance that they will fix my 2011. Meanwhile there is a new 335i with "my name on it", deeply discounted that is just begging to be bought, and the bmw dealer made me a nice generous offer on my G trade too, so I feel like I need an answer asap. I wish they could just plug a 2012 brain into my 2011. Infiniti dealer is supposed to get back to me "soon" with some ideas/thoughts/etc.

My best friend bought a 2012 Sedan G37, nothing fancy but did buy the Premium Package - moonroof, selective seat, heaters etc.. but not navi, the packages have changed since my 09 that he fell in love with and found at the top of Consumer Reports.
He doesn't experience the tranny issues the 09 does. Then again, I still love my 09 and have learned how to "drive it" and it still drives like a bat outta' hell. Just tonight I enjoyed pushing the shifter left and using my paddles to make my way down 75 in north Dallas. It's an envious car. Almost 29K on an 09 is light use and of course I baby it.
We take the wife's 08 Volvo on trips.

I too have just gotten used to the trannys' quirks and adapt, and yes it still takes off like a hellbat too
BTW, similar mileage too, right near 31k. I'm hoping to finally keep a car (that I bought new) past the warranty, this G just might be it
Just drove my 2011 again with the intent to duplicate the 7AT brake-gas delay problem at city driving speeds. I was able to make it do it at least 10 times in a row.
I logged some throttle position and RPM data too. I see that when the lag occurs, the car electronically "takes your foot off the gas" for anywhere from a half second to a full second. When there's no lag, then you don't see it ignoring your foot. Am trying to graph this data in excel to illustrate.
Every time you brake or coast down to about 22 MPH and then press the gas, there is a delay and a jerk. There's actually a range between 20 and 25, but I can repeat it consistently at about 22.
This is city traffic driving/negotiating speed, and going-around turns speed for me, so it happens all the time in normal driving, even if I do not try to make it happen.
The delay is definitely the downshift from 4th to 3rd during which the gas pedal is essentially disconnected, while the transmission thinks about it.
when I drove the 2012 yesterday (see my other post), I do not think I slowed down enough (20-25 speed) to duplicate the problem. Soooooo, I think the jury may still be out on whether they actually fixed it. Basically I think I wasted the 90-minutes-each-way trip to Infiniti on Friday.
I am tired of wondering IF or when infiniti will even update this transmission. I didn't buy a car to ponder why it does these things and hope for solutions.
I've had many cars and kept them ALL past the warranty. In my 24 years of owning cars, this will probably be the very first one that I get rid of long before the warranty is up unless a fix comes soon.

I do believe Infinti's redesign of the G37 is VITAL to change the transmission to something adapting to the GTRs fast shifting tranny. Just like BMW eventually adapted its 3 series, 5 series etc... to the M series fast shifting tranny.
