Guess I'll start asking around to see if any dealers have heard about an upcoming update for my 2011. Your (Mike S) 2012 sounds like it might be working better. I still will not believe it until I drive one myself, which I haven't had a chance to do yet (1+ hour away from nearest dealer).

The Thread that will not die. I have an 09 sedan 7at. Purchased from dealer in december 2011. First oil change three days ago, I mentioned the harsh downshifting, the lurching at times and what seemed like excessive engine braking during city driving. They did the reflash. The car does feel smother, but now I feel there are less gears, if that makes sense. There is still a bit of hunting during some city driving situations. Also more hesitation when you step on it in D. Lastly, car feels neutered. Kinda want it back to the old way, wonder if that is an option.

I was thinking the exact same thing today. Had mine done a few weeks ago and now it feels like the car doesn't have life in D. I doubt you can go back to the original way, however I'm gonna tale it to the dealership again and tell them what's wrong.

One thing to keep in mind. My 09 (reflashed twice) was AWD, the brand new 11 (with 10 miles on it that I drove for a day) was AWD. My 12 is RWD.

After 800 Miles, I still stand by my 12 7AT being better than my 09 - twice reflashed 7AT.

Flare is basically gone with the 12, still had it with the 09.

Comming to a stop sign/red light, 12 is very smooth cycling 4-3-2-1, independent of AC load or not. 09 was 50/50 on this if the AC was off, but always smooth if the AC was on.

Hesitation pulling away from a stop sign on a cold morning (first couple stop signs on my street)...gone with the 12. Very much present with the 09 and 11. Again, my 09 started doing this the VERY MORNING AFTER the 2nd flash.

Had service done last Friday and was talking to the service manager. Was discussing the shifting and transmission issues that I had previously experienced and told them about, and also asked about a slight intermittent tick in the valve train. He mentioned that a new program for the transmission and something for the VVEL system was due to come out. Supposedly around June according to the Infiniti engineer that was on-site a couple weeks prior.

I'm holding out some hope, but don't want to get excited, yet.

Yes. My 09 was reset on 3/29/12. By today 4/2/12 I noticed the lag and jerking/lurching coming back.

Of Course it does.... Hey ej19 (that's a pun [Steely Dan, couldn't resist], sorry to pop your ballon, but Been There, Done That...Let's all hope that the Rumors are true about this real "FIX"... In the meantime, I'm still battling on a return at no cost on my lease. Not getting anywhere lately though. I guess it will take a letter from my attorney copying the Attorney General of NY, the local FOX trouble shooting reporter, Better Business Bureau & IHSTA - filing a formal complaint as some on Edmunds. com have done.

I know that this is a G forum, but I am considering the M (due to it's size). Is it affected similarily with the transmission issues? Is there a sister site to this just for the M that may be more appropriate to search? Thanks in advance.

Don't quite get the pun. The handle is a commbination of numbers and my sons initials...Anyway, harsh downshift has fully returned. some hesitation when you floor it. One major change is now the car will coast longer. reminds me of my 02 accord, let off the gas and coast for a block.
