My engine is starting to act abnormally. '10 Sedan...

Hi everyone, I'm starting to get concerned with my engine in my 7at g37 sedan. Last night I was out and I started my car. I noticed my rpms were higher at idle than usual. I figured the car was a little cold so it was fine. When I put it in D and let it roll without any gas on the pedal, the rpms rise and drop by itself and the car starts having a ridiculously high idle point. When im driving and come to a stop, i have to stomp on the brakes harder since the rpms are so high. I also notice the engine behaves differently when this happens.

This has been on and off for about a month, it happens here and there. Does anyone know what this could be?

It sounds like something wonky is going on with the VVEL system, I would have the dealer check it out.

Did you install intakes on the car? I know i had the same thing happen on mine. I took it to the dealership and they fixed it. Im sure your still under warranty, so i would take it to the dealership and have them deal with it. Good luck

it could be a couple of things, i had the same issue on my o8 g37 coupe but when i took it to the dealer it was actually my tranny. so i guess its best to take it to the dealer no matter what.....cold out or not car shouldnt be doing that

Definitely take it in to the dealer. It's better to be safe with this kind of issue especially when under warranty. The 7at is a funky transmission while the engines themselves seem to be very reliable. Id be leaning toward a tranny issue here and the dealers are very issued to working with their issues.

its been in the 10s and 20s here. ive noticed it has been idling wierd also. you at least have to wait 30 seconds till you move the shifter and start to drive. i just noticed today i got crappy gas mileage on the highway. worse then usual. maybe it has something to do with the weather and the gas i got last fillup.

my idle is actually lower than usual. unless i'm mistaken, my car used to idle at about 700-800rpm. but now it's at about 500 rpm.
