GTM Twin Turbo 1 Year/10,000 Miles Review

GTM TWIN TURBO 1 Year Review

It's been almost a year since I've installed my GTM Twin Turbo Stage 2, and I just wanted to give an update. The car has been running like a champ in the last year without any problems. I put about 10,000 miles on the car since the kit was installed. The car was driven everyday while I was working and it never gave me any problems.

Two particular experiences that I've had illustrate the reliability and durability of this kit:
#1: One morning I was driving to work, still under the influence of codeine medication, and turn around in a corner too quickly. The rear end spun out and I ran up and down a curb. The front wheel was completely destroyed and both front hubs were damaged. I was **** my pants worried about the intercooler and the turbo kit components. The subframe was shifted and slightly bent but the turbo kit was completely fine.

#2: In the middle of the summer I moved to New York from California to go back to school. There was no way I would leave the turboed G at home so I took it on the cross country drive. The trip was over 3000 miles and took 7 days. From the 120 degree temperature of Arizona to the high elevations at Rocky Mountains, the tune and the turbo kit were absolutely flawless. I averaged about 80 mph throughout the trip and averaged around 24-25 MPG. The MPG is calculated from miles traveled / gallons filled, since the gauge is no longer accurate.

Recently, I also had a blackstone oil analysis performed and everything was normal.

Finally, I just want to give a big thanks to Sam for all his help. His support doesn’t end with the business transaction. Even a year later, he’s still helping me with my tune for the turbo kit. I had to have the ECU ROM updated to fix the battery drain issue. I gave Sam a call and he immediately took care of it for me. Emailed me the new tune ported over to the new ROM and added a 93 map for me. You can’t get that kind of service anywhere else.

Awesome update, Modme. If you don't mind me asking, how many psi do you run daily @ what type of wheel horsepower?

Thanks

I was running at 8psi. However, the winter came and I couldn't hold grip in 3rd gear at 8 psi. So I dropped it down to 5 psi just to be safe. The car was dynoed with 430 whp at around 6-7 psi.

So now that it's been over a year of this review... How are things now? Any video of the G running down the street?

I had the same question and from what he said, it's still running like a champ. been seriously pondering making the jump and knowing that he's had virtually no issues for 2 years and has DD his ride across the country more than once is reassuring.

Thread revival!

TTs have proven to be very reliable on a DD. I have almost 60K miles on mine.

Just keep in mind the more your beat on it, the sooner it will break down.
