Dude, it's in the car for a reason, why wouldn't you use it... if it didn't work why would Infiniti put the feature in all their A/Ts..

As long as I can remember, automatic transmissions have had the option to put the car in specific gears (usually 1 and 2), doesn't mean it's there to pretend you have a manual. It's usually there for the driver to use a specific gear, stay in that gear for a unique situation.

Mine does the same thing when I get in the mood to us the DS mode and down shift to a stop. When going from 2 to 1 there is a 3-5 second delay in slowing the car and then it comes on all at once and really slows.

You are correct, cars have had the ability to hold out different gears for different situations for a long time. However, not every car includes tiptronic shifting abilities. If it came with my car, I use it.

I think its supposed to be that way. It delays to avoid high rev increase from the down shift. I think it similar to the syncro rev match in the manual 370z.

yea... i don't know why you would downshift from 2 to 1 when stopping.. Just leave it at 2nd gear. It does the same thing on my 08 G37s coupe. Only when i try to shift down to 1st gear. One of the technician at Infiniti dealer told me that downshifting it to 1st gear is very harsh on transmission. So i stopped downshifting it to first gear. problem solved!

I only do that when I'm driving a little hard like when I want to do a quick tire spin like a jackass or when I'm in an inpatient hurry to get somewhere.. It's not even annoying as much as it has become dangerous when I'm in an intersection.
