It is the input shaft bearing and is a known issue. I've had my transmission replaced twice on my current g37 and once on my last g37(was totalled). Get's really whiny. Anyone know of a root cause yet?

So you guys just went to the dealer and told them that your tranny is making noise? I would think they would blame you on that...and it wouldn't be covered under the warranty

If you can get the shop foreman to drive the car they'll immediately recognize the problem. Also helps if you know what you're talking about and do go up in there like, "I think the hyperhoofinator valve is broken!"

Wanted to report back.
Because my warranty is up in like 2000 miles, they did my transmission, clutch, flywheel and clutch master cylinder. It's a totally different car now, shifts are different, the clutch feels completely different. There's still a pressure plate clacking but that's normal imho... No more whining very neat clutch control with the pedal and the shift throws appear to be shorter (may have used a later model transmission.)
