Clutch chattering is normal for our cars. JUst depress your clutch all the time and you won't hear it lol

My trans was replaced for a whining input shaft bearing. New one is silent in neutral with the clutch out, no clutch chatter either.

Agree with speedracer 37. Transmission input shaft bearing.

It is the input shaft bearing and is a known issue. I've had my transmission replaced twice on my current g37 and once on my last g37(was totalled). Get's really whiny. Anyone know of a root cause yet?

Both times I've taken this in to two different dealers, none would look any further and claimed it's "normal" sound.

So you guys just went to the dealer and told them that your tranny is making noise? I would think they would blame you on that...and it wouldn't be covered under the warranty

I took mine in around 2,500 miles when I first got it. I said that there was a small grinding noise when the clutch was out.

If you can get the shop foreman to drive the car they'll immediately recognize the problem. Also helps if you know what you're talking about and do go up in there like, "I think the hyperhoofinator valve is broken!"

Input shaft bearing.

I have the same issue and I noticed it before I had 1K miles on my G. Is it an issue, or not?

Wanted to report back.

Because my warranty is up in like 2000 miles, they did my transmission, clutch, flywheel and clutch master cylinder. It's a totally different car now, shifts are different, the clutch feels completely different. There's still a pressure plate clacking but that's normal imho... No more whining very neat clutch control with the pedal and the shift throws appear to be shorter (may have used a later model transmission.)

Any update on this problem? Anyone else went to dealership for it? Are they willing to fix it?
