1 to 2 shift too late with 7at manual mode

i just did this again today. while taking a right turn into moving traffic i gave it alot of gas and revved 1st gear way through the ceiling at 7500+ before i shifted to 2nd. i got scared and took my foot off the gas. It probably would have been ok if it wasnt for the lag between shifts with the 7AT in manual mode. this car gives you about a second to shift out of first if your accelerating hard. Does this happen alot with yours? im sure its not good for the engine and im wondering if ive abused her now. is this messing up the valves or anything? the manual says dont go past 7500 rpms and it doesnt say anything about a fuel shutoff or a rev limiter.

Were you using the paddles or the ****? The **** is a bit quicker actually.

You're fine. The car won't go above 7,500.

Just learn the quirks of the 7AT and remember that you have to shift earlier, and you will be ok.

Junk it. Car is ruined, time for a new car.

JK, i don't think it will let you go past redline in the at, it will cut the power first

Twice yesterday I thought I was in manual shift mode, and while getting after it, I pushed the stick forward to hit the next gear - which went into N instead...

And I've also done what you've described a few times as well.

^^ exactly...biggest regret in my life of car purchases...why I didn't go with 6sp man? The 7at has a mind of it's own...let's not even get started on how long it holds 3rd gear for no reason? The manual mode is like:"Brain needs to tell shifter when revs are only at 4k to slap the next gear up, because by the time the thing registers you're already at 7k+...35 more mos to go...;(

Look into getting a grounding kit. Black betty makes them and is very reputable. Many have said to improve shifting lag in ATs.

it won't shift if you floor it then back off.
try it it half throttle, it will not hold the gear. That is unless you are into turns, it has sensors to detemine if you're in a hard turn it won't upshift.

learn the timing of the car and a lot of 7AT bashing propaganda by the 6MT owners wont apply.
