What is your RPM at 80 & 60 mph in your G37 sedan? Auto? Manual? G37x?

Just trying to get an idea of how the move from a 08 G35x to a G37x is going to affect my RPMs and gas mileage.

Thanks.

the 7AT in the new one is more efficient, not too sure about the rpm difference tho.

Not enough to justify the price difference. You'll probably see a difference of 2 mpg. So let's say you drive 15000 miles a year and gas is $3 a gallon. That would cost you $2250 in the G35x @ 22mpg vs. $1875 @ 24mpg in the G37x. That's a difference of only $375 per year. You're looking at a loss of at least $5000 to trade up to the G37x. Not worth it, IMO... unless you plan on keeping it for more than 13 years, which is the break-even point.

I'll simply answer your question: 6MT G37S @ 80 mph ~ approximately 2800 rpm.

G37s with 7AT is like ~1800 rpm.....i forgot the exact numbers.

I noticed a HUGE increase between my G35x 5AT and my G37s 7AT......the changing variables being the 2 extra gears and RWD instead of AWD.

my test:
I used to drive to LI every day for a month....30 miles cruising at 50-55mph. I would reset the computer once i reach 50 and drive. by the end of the drive is when i would see my max....which was about 27-28. On nights when i drive my normal....70ish mph...id be somewhere at 20mpg.............this was all with my G35x

with my G37.......doing the same 30 mile drive to LI......instantly I would see 29-31 at 55mph. During my drive back from NJ where id be driving around 70.....id get like 26-27...which isnt too bad.

its not incredible gains.....but its pretty good.

This above is in 6th gear, at 60 mph in 5th gear the rpm is around 2800-2900 with the 6MT. Which the 7AT is going to be different.

Save yourself some money and get the 6MT.

why aren't the RPMs published. My old Passat had them noted in the driver's manual.

carz: I would ditto that almost exactly, comparing my old 07 G35X with a 5AT compared to my new 2010 G37X. I didn't condcut the same type test at 50-55 mph and hit the reset button the mileage reading, but generally over a few tankfuls of gas driving less aggressive, I'd hit 22-23 mpg on the 07, mostly in a 40 mile drive from Westchester Co to LI. With the new 2010 G37X, now with 2900 miles on the clock, not really driving 55mph more like 70 - 75 mph, seeing regularly 24.6 mpg - last 3 tankfuls. I use Premium gas, NON WINTER BLEND yet. That affects it for sure, more Ethanol in the gas in Winter, results in lower mikleage. City mpg, definetely an improvement of about 2 mpg or slightly more so far. It's not fully broken in yet for mileage gains anyway. But the mileage gaisn are ata a sacrifce of the perfromance of the car IMHO. see my many postys about the 7 AT- gear hunting, etc.... It is better now with over 1800 miles on the clock. At first, I wanted to return the car

once i drive into the city it drops horribly....but at least on the highway its become a lot civil.

but you're right on the performance, i feel like the car doesnt pull as hard as my G35....and i shift the gears manually with the paddles to avoid the gear hunting.

On my way to work tonight i tried this and at 60 mph i was at approximately 1800 rpm, at 80 i was at 2600 rpm(7spd). In my Maxima(5sp) at 60 ill be at about 2100 rpm, and at 80 ill be pushing 3000 rpm. Now that I've got the need for speed out of my system(for the most part anyway) Im getting much better gas mileage.
