Torque is a function of displacement. Want more torque? Get a bigger engine. Or FI.

Well how come the 370 guys say the oil cooler solves the limp mode problem? I need to solve this as it hits limp mode every time I canyon her.

 

I rented a 118d 5-door in Spain last month. The transmission tunnel in that car isn't very wide at all and I found I had plenty of leg space. Unless you're talking about a 135i Coupe with a larger engine (and different transmission), I wouldn't classify the 1er as 'cramped' at all.

I'm 6'4" by the way.

 

It makes it so it takes longer, but oil temps WILL hit 280, and the car will hit limp.

The 370Z population has all but disappeared from the track. I did see one at ACS last weekend, but he was not running fast enough to hit limp mode; he was stock.

 

Depends on what oil cooler you get.. Some won't let you hit limp mode even on the track. I spend a lot of time on the370 and looks like a good portion of owners do track their cars.

 

Are any of them running competitive times? The drivers I know that do have all abandoned the platform. Course, I don't know everyone...

Have you seen the new 5.0L Mustang? For less money than a G37, you get well over 400 HP (Ford says it has 412 HP, but that has already been proven to be underrated) and a car that is capable of running the quarter mile in the 12's.

They also have an available Track Pack that makes the thing handle well too, even with a live rear axle suspension set-up.

 

maybe if you do it yourself. Honda quoted me 1200 bucks to replace it and the water pump on my 2000 accord v6. I think its hard to do on the v6 vs the 4 cyl.

 

To add to this, the new 5.0 lapped a technical track within 0.1 seconds of a M3, both with a pro driver.

I first had a 2006 G35x base. Just traded in for a 2010 G37x premium with interior accents.
I LOVE THE VQ. Loved the 3.5 and love the 3.7 even more. If I wanted a quite motor I would buy a freakin Lexus, Acura, or Mercedes! I love the ROAR of the Infiniti motor. It is a great compromise of American sounding muscle and Japanese quality. My wife's 2007 SRX V-6 is loud as well, but with hardly the punch. I don't want a grandma sounding engine. Really guys, Infiniti appeals to guys in suit and ties as well young people wanting the great compromise I mentioned above. I am turning 40 in Nov. My Dad is 60. He is anxiously awaiting the delivery of his Hemi Jeep Overland Cherokee. If it is quite inside he will be very disapointed. Quite sucks!!!!!!

Yeah, I watched that video on YouTube yesterday, which I think was the first day it came out. They also have a drag race video between the same Mustang and M3. They raced them a bunch of times and declared the Mustang the winner with a 12.7 to the M3's 12.8. But both cars were pretty much neck and neck on all the runs.

It's starting to look like the 5.0L Mustang is America's M3 (they mentioned that in the video) because it performs nearly identically in every aspect. I was shocked that the Mustang has a shorter stopping distance than the M3.

 

What's this?? Did Mike just give props to an american car with a live rear axle suspension set up? what about the cars that don't have front "camber adjustability"? Can't they get some mike lovin' too???

 

So how does a live rear axle play well on the street, where it's not so smooth? or hit the rough parts of tracks.
