Ticking feeling/sound on cold start

Firstly, this is not, as far as I can tell, coming from the engine.

Typically, after I reverse out of the garage and then proceed forward down the street, I end up feeling something "ticking". Feels like there's a HUGE rock or something in a tire. It is not transmitted through the wheel, more through my seat and/or pedals.

This feeling DOES vary with vehicle speed (not engine speed), and does occur with the clutch engaged or disengaged. Typically, after the car has warmed up, it goes away.

Any thoughts?

It's not inside the tire, but there's probably a small rock stuck in the thread of one of your tires. Every time you go over it, you hear it. The faster you drive the faster it ticks. Go through each tire until you find it.

No mustache rides for me thanks. To help is rewarding enough.

I'd go with BLKG37 and take a look see for rocks. It's cheap and might fix it.
If no rocks, see if someone can spot the wheel that is making the noise as you drive by. Could be a lot 'o stuff.

it was my initial assumption too.....but the fact that it vanishes, and happens quite frequently on cold starts, and then goes away....is odd. next time i hear it i'll check...again. need to take the car in for the navi/ipod tsb sometime soon, will prolly have the dealer take a look

no. did my first oil change ~2000+ miles ago and used Pennzoil Platinum 5W-30. And I noticed this with the original Nissan Ester oil too.

I just started to have the same issue with my G. It sounds like the axle clicking I had on my previous g coupe.

Hmmm... have you tried backing up and repeatedly applying the breaks?
Long shot, but free.

brakes dude....brakes. and yes.

i'm used to repairing my car and keeping it in good running order. But i am also used to FWD and not such a tight suspension. Hence my trying to figure out if this is a large stone in the tire, or something else (I am leaning towards something else since whatever is happening imparts a "thunking" through the seat/pedals that I've not felt before when there is just a stone or nail in a tire)

But what would be present when things are cold and vanish when things warm up, I've no idea. All I could think of is a bearing, axle, driveshaft, differential, loose lugnut........but AFAIK, most of those things don't "warm up"
