Shift from 1st to 2nd gear question..

i recently got 08 G37s and i just wanna know what's the good rpm to shift from 1st to 2nd gear??

i also notice that the car doesnt want me to stay long in 1st gear ..because sometime i stay in 1st gear if i am moving very slow in the parking lot looking for a parking or something like that and when i use the clutch it make a weird clicking noise from the gear box.

so what i am doing now is stay in 1st gear for only 3 or 4 seconds until the rpm reach 3000 then change to 2nd gear right away and stay there while i'm looking for a parking. That why i don't heard that clicking noise from the gear box anymore when i shift from 1st to 2nd....

am i doing the right thing?

Thanks

In parking lots I only go down to 1st gear for speed bumps. What you're doing sounds about right.

For smoother shifts from 1-2-3 I generally shift around 3500-3800 RPM when out on the roads.

I don't know what you mean by clicking. Our tranny and clutch are noisy as hell in lower gears.

Probably not doing anything wrong and hard to say about parking garages. More of a feel thing I think. I typically shift around 4k, shifts are smoother and I just love the sound.

But i can only heard the noise when i shift from 1st to 2nd gear and if i stay in 1st gear for a long time with low rpm and when i clutch it i can heard the loud clicking noise from the gear box.

if i don't stay in 1st gear for a long time (as soon as rpm reach to 3000 shift to 2nd gear) the car shifts smooth and i dont heard the clicking noise..

that clicking noise is normal, i think. it's the safety pin, if my memory serves me correctly. our flywheels are noisy by nature.
