wouldn't a cool intake charge that is heated up by the SC and then cooled down by the IC be cooler than a hot intake charge that is heated up even more by the SC and then cooled down by the IC?

In theory, you want the freshest, coldest air available to the intakes. Behind a heat exchanger is not the "coldest air available." They are limited by space and design and decided the current configuration was their best option. I can see that. They also believe performance is not going to be effected by the placement. They modify cars for a living while I turn valves so it's most likely they are correct on this.
I understand. I thought the same thing when I first saw the placement of the coolers on the sides directly in front of the intakes. Of course we're all in agreement that the coldest possible air is best, that's an no brainer. I don't see any feasible possibilities for alternate placement in this setup that are going to bring in air any cooler than where it's placed.

I would think that the location in the wheel wells (even behind the small coolers) is still going to be colder ambient temperature than in the engine compartment. At least that's my guess. And if we can get some data of IAT in the stock locations compared to IAT where they're located in this install, that would prove it

Maybe they should route them like this:

The flow of air coming from the outside will first cool oil in the coolers that are placed instead of the faux vents by convection, this means that the heat from the coolers will be forced out by the cooler ambient air. Thing is, they're pushed towards the filters that are sitting right behind them sucking air into the engine..

I think that's what's concering IVoid (Yes? No?)

yes that is what he is saying. however it is only the tranny cooler that is infront of the intakes. not a big deal not alot of heat. and it definatly not enough that the inercooler cannot handel it

No doubt the coolers are in a good location. However, I'm still wondering how the filters will hold up when soaked while driving in the rain. It does eventually rain once in a while even in Southern CA.

With injen, you still have the fake grill that blocks out all the water. With this setup, you only have cheese gritters blocking the water.

I always thought the TK front bumper cover would be perfect for FI setups with additional coolers on each side. But the thought of rain soaked filters has kept me away.

the TK bumper would look great if it was a bit less aggressive and had a grille to match.
